Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Duration: Through year end with potential extension
Rate: $60–65/hr on W-2 (No C2C)
Overview
We are seeking an API Developer with strong platform engineering and cloud experience to join our team. This role will focus on API platform support, upgrades, and core engineering initiatives while enabling developers across the enterprise to build scalable, secure, and reliable API solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a technical authority for all phases of software development including design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and support of the API platform and tooling.
• Support and enhance the API Gateway platform (Kong preferred).
• Develop Node.js applications, frameworks, and tools to improve developer productivity and streamline the SDLC process.
• Write comprehensive unit tests using modern Node.js testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Chai, etc.).
• Design and implement CI/CD pipeline tools and frameworks with GitLab, Python, and Shell scripts.
• Support API adoption and usage by working directly with enterprise development teams, resolving issues, and answering technical questions.
• Build and maintain applications for public cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
Required Skills
• 3–5+ years of software development experience with Node.js, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Proficiency with Python and scripting languages.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud application development.
• Strong unit testing skills with frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or Chai.
• Experience with REST API or microservices development.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools (GitLab) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Experience with version control tools (Git).
Desired Skills
• Gateway experience (Kong highly preferred).
• AWS certifications a strong plus.
• Experience developing APIs with API Gateway support.
