Role description
Job Title : API Developer
Location :-QuincyΒ MA (Hybrid)
Duration :- 4 Months Contract (With Possibility of extension)
Need Local to MA,CT, RH Only.
API Developer
Client seeks to improve a constituent's experience while interacting with eligibility and enrollment processes across its various agencies through more efficient and collaborative processes. This project will, through a series of iterative improvements, knit the various processes together into an Integrated Eligibility and Enrollment program to provide constituents with a unified view of applying, managing and being notified by Benefits programs.
Role Summary: API Developer with strong Java and SpringBoot microservices experience who can also support some DevOps activities such as deployments, configuration management, and environment support. This role encompasses both development and DevOps responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities: API Development
β’ Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Java 8 and Spring Boot.
β’ Build and enhance microservices that consume JSON payloads from multiple external agencies.
β’ Implement business logic based on agency, notice type, and payload data.
β’ Implement robust error handling, logging, and retry mechanisms.
β’ Write unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and quality.
DevOps & Deployment
β’ Support CI/CD pipelines for Spring Boot microservices.
β’ Perform application deployments across DEV, QA, UAT, and PROD environments.
β’ Manage and update environment-specific configurations (externalized properties).
β’ Work with GitLab and CI tools (GIT, JIRA, Jenkins).
β’ Monitor application logs on AWS, troubleshoot deployment issues, and support production fixes.
Required Experience and Skills
β’ A total of 7 years of experience with 5 years of hands-on API/backend development and 3-4 years of real DevOps exposure.
β’ Strong experience in Java 8 or above.
β’ Hands-on expertise with SpringBoot and Microservices.
β’ Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
β’ Good understanding of JSON, HTTP, and third-party integrations.
β’ Experience with CI/CD, deployments, and configuration management.
β’ Working knowledge of Linux environments and application troubleshooting.
β’ Cloud deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
β’ Monitoring & Logging (Cloudwatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
Nice to Have
β’ Experience with government or large-scale enterprise systems.
β’ Knowledge of asynchronous processing or messaging system.
β’ AWS Certified Solutions Developer.
