Position Overview
Role: Applications Development Expert (DevOps)
Client: Government
Location: Baltimore, MD (Hybrid)
Start: March 2, 2026
Duration: Base through June 30, 2026 with up to two 1-year renewals
Openings: Up to 2 resources
Core Responsibilities
• Design, build, automate, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes
• Support enterprise application development across AWS cloud and traditional infrastructure
• Collaborate with development, testing, infrastructure, and operations teams
• Automate deployments, configurations, monitoring, and alerting
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud automation tools
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure SLAs
• Participate in integration testing, acceptance testing, and technical reviews
• Ensure compliance with security, change control, and PMO standards
• Be flexible to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hours if needed
Minimum Required Qualifications (Must-Have)
• 8+ years experience with enterprise IT platforms/applications
• 5+ years hands-on DevOps experience in a cloud environment (AWS preferred)
• 5+ years with automation & IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
• 4+ years in CI/CD, automation, and orchestration
• 4+ years designing and deploying applications on AWS
• 2+ years experience with Ansible, Jenkins, Maven, and scripting
• Strong AWS expertise including EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, EBS, ELB, ECS, EKS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Redshift
• Experience with application/web servers (JBoss, Apache Tomcat, or similar)
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications
• Health exchange, eligibility systems, or similar large-scale government systems experience
• Government cloud deployments supporting high-volume consumer applications
• Advanced AWS services: IAM, Route53, API Gateway, WAF, Shield, KMS, CloudTrail, Config, Kinesis
• Containers & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, NGINX
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB
• IAM/Identity Provider integrations
• Scripting: Python, Ruby, Bash
• Microservices & SOA architecture knowledge
• Agile development experience and familiarity with PMO processes
