As an Application Operations (AppOps) Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and operational readiness of enterprise applications that support our digital and card services ecosystem. This role provides hands‑on technical support across distributed systems, web services, batch workloads, file transmissions, and hybrid cloud platforms. Engineers in this position may be aligned to various application domains based on business need, including back‑office processing, web/API services, token provisioning systems, internal applications, or emerging digital products. This is a highly technical, fast‑paced operational role responsible for triage, root cause analysis, automation, monitoring improvements, and continuous enhancement of high‑availability, 24x7 applications. • Provide hands‑on technical support for production and non‑production applications across multiple platforms (Linux, Unix, or Windows environments). • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in multi-tier distributed systems, APIs, web services, and batch/transaction processing environments. • Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule, responding to escalations affecting clients, transactions, tokens, batch jobs, file transmissions, and/or internal workflows. • Create and enhance monitoring, dashboards, alerts, and health checks using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, ExtraHop). • Implement and automate operational tasks including deployments, environment validation, job monitoring, error detection, and alert remediation. • Support release deployments, configuration updates, change management activities, and fallbacks during maintenance windows. • Collaborate with development, QA, and product teams to ensure applications are production‑ready. • Analyze production incidents, identify patterns, and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA), preventive actions, and continuous improvement. • Maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, runbooks, and support procedures. • Support capacity planning, performance tuning, stability initiatives, and ongoing modernization efforts. Basic Qualifications for Consideration: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent technical experience. • 5 – 10+ years of experience in application support, system administration, DevOps, SRE, or production operations. • Experience supporting distributed, cloud, or web‑based applications in a 24x7 environment. • Strong technical experience with Unix/Linux or Windows administration. • Experience with scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python). • Familiarity with application monitoring & logging tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, ExtraHop, etc.). • Experience with job schedulers (Control-M, Autosys) and file transmission protocols (SFTP, NDM, FTP). • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers). • Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues involving infrastructure, databases, application services, or integrations. • Participation in on-call rotations and willingness to work off-hours as needed. Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education: • Experience with database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server). • Experience with containers and orchestration (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker) is a plus. • Cloud knowledge (Azure, AWS) including resource management and deployment concepts. • Knowledge of CI/CD tools, version control, and automation frameworks. • Familiarity with financial systems, payments, tokenization, dispute processing, or batch processing environments. • Understanding of ITIL concepts (Incident, Problem, Change Management). • Experience with legacy systems and willingness to support them when needed. Core Competencies • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize in fast-paced environments. • Clear written and verbal communication skills for both technical and business audiences. • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams and time zones. • Desire to automate, streamline, and eliminate manual operational work. • Ownership mentality and accountability for production stability.
