Applied AI / LLM Engineer (Manufacturing & ERP Integration)
Location: Maiden, NC (First week onsite required then fully remote)
Employment Type: Contract / Consulting
Compensation: $70–$80/hour W-2
We are seeking an experienced Applied AI / LLM Engineer to support a manufacturing organization launching its first enterprise AI initiative. This role will focus on building practical AI solutions that automate operational processes, generate business insights, and integrate with ERP-driven data environments.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience developing production-ready AI applications, connecting business workflows with modern LLM technologies, and translating operational challenges into scalable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop LLM-powered applications and AI agents to automate business processes and operational workflows
• Build AI-driven insights related to ordering trends, customer activity, operational performance, forecasting, and financial visibility
• Work with ERP-backed data, integrating structured and unstructured data sources for AI use cases
• Develop solutions using Python, SQL, APIs, RAG, data pipelines, and automation frameworks
• Support business intelligence and growth initiatives through data analysis and AI-enabled reporting
• Help establish AI best practices, governance, and responsible AI usage standards
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define requirements, drive adoption, and deliver practical solutions
Required Qualifications
• Strong experience building LLM-powered applications using platforms such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar
• Advanced Python and SQL skills
• Experience with RAG, APIs, workflow automation, vector databases, and system integrations
• Background working in manufacturing, supply chain, ERP, or operational business environments
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, emerging AI environment
• Strong communication skills with a business-first, hands-on mindset
Additional Details
• First week of work required onsite in Maiden, NC for operational walkthroughs, stakeholder alignment, and process understanding
• Duration: 6–12 month engagement with potential for extension
• Compensation: $70–$80/hour W-2
• Interviewing candidates on a rolling basis
Nice to Have: Experience standing up AI programs, AI governance exposure, consulting background, or partnership with Technical PMs / Project Managers.
