Role description
Allied Consultants has been contracted with the Texas State Government for 33 years, we are a Top Ten ranked vendor, and premier provider of technical and business staffing solutions. We are currently seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer to be a key resource on a technical services team for our client, the Teachers Retirement System of Texas (TRS). Work hours and Location 8AM-5PM Job Location: 1900 Aldrich St Austin, TX 78723 β€’ β€’ This position will be 3 days onsite with 2 days remote required to be onsite at the location listed above. Candidates must be local to Austin, TX and surrounding areas. Candidates must be either a US Citizen or Green Card holders. β€’ β€’ Responsibilities Client is looking for a talented AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy intelligent solutions that harness big data infrastructure and cutting-edge AI frameworks. This role demands a solid background in software engineering and a proven ability to deliver production-grade, scalable AI web applicationsβ€” from easy-to-use front-end designs to reliable back-end systems and data workflows. Key Responsibilities β€’ Develop intelligent, self-service user experiences by integrating pre-trained LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude) and machine learning frameworks into customer-facing applications. β€’ Design and implement end-to-end features for a chat-based data interaction platform. β€’ Build responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces using modern frameworks such as React, Vue, or Streamlit. β€’ Develop scalable back-end services and APIs using Python (FastAPI, Flask) or Node.js. β€’ Enhance and maintain software systems supporting generative AI initiatives. β€’ Deliver full-stack AI-powered applications using Python and contemporary UI frameworks. β€’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges and integrate scalable, cloud-based AI solutions. β€’ Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on AI tools with a focus on performance, flexibility, and scalability. β€’ Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, conduct code reviews, and support the full software development lifecycle. β€’ Design and implement DevOps pipelines to support release management. Qualifications Minimum (Required): β€’ 7 years: A minimum of seven years of experience in software development, including at least two years focused on AI/ML technologies and over four years of hands-on expertise with Python. β€’ Proficiency in Python, Node.js, and React.js, with a strong background in backend services and data processing. β€’ Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and CI/CD pipelines. β€’ Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, and data protection best practices. β€’ Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills. β€’ Hands-on experience with generative AI frameworks and models (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI APIs) β€’ Familiarity with LLMs, vector databases, and retrieval systems. β€’ Programmatic Integration with Microsoft 365 Using Graph API and Entra ID Authentication Preferred (Optional): β€’ Knowledge of data visualization libraries and dashboarding tools. β€’ Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. β€’ Familiarity with DevOps tools including Jenkins and Azure DevOps. β€’ Understanding of database and data engineering fundamentals. β€’ Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration and server development. β€’ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Overview Allied Consultants offers its family of consultants excellent rates, a local support staff, and an attractive benefits package which includes medical insurance (Allied shares a percentage of the cost), life insurance, a matching 401(k) plan and a cafeteria plan.
