PayPal, AI Software Engineer - San Jose CA Job Description: Insight Global is looking for an AI Engineer to join one of the world's leading online payment platform companies based in San Jose, CA. This is a compliance platform team, who is responsible for overseeing and coordinating responses to global regulatory changes that impact the company. This team tracks evolving regulations across jurisdictions, assess business and technology impacts and drive timely implementation to ensure compliance. This team enables he company to stay ahead of regulatory developments and maintain operation readiness in a rapidly changing global environment. You’ll be part of a dynamic and evolving landscape, where you can apply your expertise and make meaningful contributions to our platform, leveraging AI/ML solutions to drive greater efficiency. Key Responsibilities • Collaborate with global product and engineering teams to design and implement AI and LLM solutions aligned with business objectives. • Design, develop, and deliver AI/ML models, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies to drive innovation. • Analyze user behavior on existing solutions and enhance functionality using AI/ML-driven approaches. • Develop and deliver solutions across all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). • Build platforms that enable adoption of generative AI across business processes. • Participate in design and architecture discussions with product and engineering teams. • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code that adheres to engineering requirements: availability, security, performance, scalability, self-serviceability, and observability. • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Stay up to date with the latest AI/ML research, tools, and technologies, including RAG, agents, and reasoning frameworks. Qualifications: • Master’s degree in computer science or engineering. • 3+ years of experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning. • Strong knowledge of NLP techniques: embeddings, attention mechanisms, sequence-to-sequence models, generative AI. • Experience designing and implementing NLP and LLM models, including Agentic AI workflows. • Proficiency in Python, with extensive experience using TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other ML libraries. • Solid foundation in software engineering fundamentals and strong analytical/problem-solving skills. • Experience with Big Data technologies: BigQuery, Bigtable, Spark, Kafka, graph DBs, etc • Hands-on experience with generative AI frameworks: LLMs, RAG, ReAct, agents. • Knowledge of LangChain and modern LLM ecosystems (e.g., GPT-4, Claude). • Proficiency in multiple programming languages: Python, SQL, and Java. • Fluent in written and spoken English. • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and frameworks. • Passion for innovation and delivering high-quality AI solutions.
