We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI Expert / Software Engineer to join our team. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain applications that generate code, pipelines, and web applications via prompt-based interfaces • Experiment with and implement advanced LLM and Agentic AI technologies to enhance application capabilities • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate adoption of AI-driven software creation tools • Ensure compliance with Duke Energy’s AI policies • Stay current with advancements in Gen AI, LLMs, Blockchain, and Quantum Computing • Optimize AI models for performance, scalability, and accuracy • Provide technical mentorship to junior team members Required Qualifications • Hands-on experience with Agentic AI technologies • Familiarity with tools such as AWS Agentcore, Azure Foundry (Azure AI Studio), or similar platforms • Proven experience in Generative AI (Gen AI) model development • Proficiency with Gen AI tools such as Claude, OpenAI GPT, GitHub Copilot (non-exhaustive) • Experience developing Gen AI applications within large organizations • Strong software engineering background • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or 8 years of equivalent work experience • 2–3 years of hands-on experience implementing Generative AI solutions • 4–5 years of software engineering experience Preferred Qualifications • Strong background in AI and machine learning • Experience with Agentic AI technologies and applications • Knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools • Passion for researching and staying up-to-date with Gen AI products and LLMs • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, React, and Angular • Solid understanding of the AWS platform • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
