Job Title: Asset Management Analyst (Software Asset Management - SAM)
Location: Houston, TX (Onsite/Hybrid)
Duration: Contract
We are seeking a detail-oriented Asset Management Analyst / Data Analyst to support enterprise-level Software Asset Management (SAM) operations. This role focuses on software license compliance, lifecycle governance, cost optimization, and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration. The ideal candidate has strong analytical capabilities, hands-on experience with SAM tools, and the ability to translate licensing data into actionable insights for leadership.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
License Management & Compliance
• Manage software license tracking, allocation, reconciliation, and entitlement validation.
• Support compliance audits and true-up exercises across enterprise applications.
• Interpret vendor licensing models (Microsoft M365, Office 365, and third-party tools).
• Oversee renewal planning, usage optimization, and cost control initiatives.
Asset Lifecycle Management
• Govern end-to-end software lifecycle (request → approval → deployment → retirement).
• Manage onboarding/offboarding licensing processes aligned with access controls.
• Identify and reclaim underutilized or inactive licenses to optimize spend.
Tools & Platforms
• Manage and maintain asset records in ServiceNow ITAM/ITSM and Remedy.
• Validate software deployments using SCCM / Configuration Manager.
• Align licensing data with Active Directory user/group attributes.
• Administer reporting within Microsoft 365 Admin Center and SharePoint.
Governance & Process
• Support development and enforcement of SAM governance frameworks.
• Define and document licensing policies, audit readiness procedures, and compliance standards.
• Align identity management attributes with automated license assignment rules.
Procurement & Vendor Coordination
• Validate license requests and approval workflows.
• Partner with Procurement, Contracts, and Finance for renewal and cost analysis.
• Support contract reviews, vendor negotiations, and true-cost assessments.
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work cross-functionally with IT, Helpdesk, Security, Procurement, and Leadership teams.
• Communicate compliance risks, savings opportunities, and optimization strategies clearly to stakeholders.
• Contribute to enterprise-wide cost-reduction and governance initiatives.

• 3+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or IT Governance.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft licensing models (M365, O365).
• Advanced Excel expertise and working knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with ServiceNow ITAM/ITSM, SCCM, Active Directory, and Power BI.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and documentation standards.
• Experience supporting audits, renewals, and compliance reporting.
