Atlan Data Governance Analyst • Works in Atlan, a data catalog / metadata governance platform. • Focus is on metadata curation, glossary, stewardship, RBAC, catalog operations. • Tool‑agnostic (Atlan preferred; Collibra/Alation acceptable). Role Summary The Data Governance Analyst (Contractor) will provide hands‑on execution for the implementation and adoption of the Atlan data catalog. The role is delivery‑focused and execution‑oriented, supporting defined governance outcomes over a fixed engagement period. You’ll partner closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and technical resources to curate metadata, support governance processes, and operationalize catalog usage. Note: This role is not intended to set long‑term strategy; it executes previously aligned standards, processes, and implementation plans. Key Responsibilities Atlan Platform & Metadata Management • Support implementation and operational use of the Atlan data catalog • Curate and maintain: • Business glossary terms • Technical metadata (tables, columns, schemas) • Ownership and stewardship assignments • Tags, classifications, and data domains • Assist with metadata ingestion, validation, and quality checks • Support lineage review and validation with technical teams • Ensure metadata aligns with governance standards and business context Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business Analytics, or equivalent experience • 5–7 years of experience across: • Data governance • Data management • Metadata management • Analytics or data platform support • Experience with at least one data catalog/governance platform • Atlan (preferred); Collibra or Alation acceptable • Strong understanding of: • Business vs. technical metadata • Data domains and ownership models • Data governance concepts and best practices • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Preferred Qualifications • Hands‑on experience supporting an Atlan implementation • Familiarity with Snowflake or cloud data platforms • Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.) • Exposure to data quality concepts and tooling • Experience supporting enterprise data programs or platform implementations • Knowledge of data privacy, sensitivity classification, or compliance frameworks Key Skills • Metadata curation & documentation • Business glossary development • Stakeholder facilitation • Analytical thinking & attention to detail • Process documentation & governance operations Ability to translate technical concepts into business language
