Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Atlassian Jira Migration Engineer to support a critical initiative involving the migration of Jira Service Management (JSM) to Atlassian Cloud and the upgrade of internal Jira Software from Server to Data Center. The role will focus on ensuring a smooth transition, preserving plugin functionality (including SVN integration), minimizing operational risks, and providing hands-on technical execution throughout the migration lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead the migration of Jira Service Management (JSM) to Atlassian Cloud (Standard), including configuration of request types, SLAs, email channels, and portals.
β’ Perform an in-place upgrade of Jira Software from Server to Data Center, ensuring continuity of service and plugin compatibility.
β’ Assess and validate plugin ecosystems, particularly SVN-related hooks, and ensure successful reimplementation in the Data Center environment.
β’ Configure and administer Atlassian Access (SSO/SCIM) if adopted, or propose cost-control alternatives.
β’ Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define migration strategies.
β’ Develop runbooks, communication plans, and test scripts for migration readiness.
β’ Execute pilot migrations, validate integrations, and manage production cutover.
β’ Provide training and enablement sessions for Jira administrators and JSM agents post-migration.
β’ Ensure compliance with Atlassian best practices, security standards, and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
β’ 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Atlassian Administrator/Engineer with Jira Software and Jira Service Management.
β’ Strong experience in Atlassian Server β Data Center upgrades and Jira Cloud migrations.
β’ Solid understanding of Atlassian plugin management, including SVN connector or equivalent integrations.
β’ Expertise in configuring JSM projects, request types, SLAs, automations, and workflows.
β’ Experience with Atlassian Access (SSO/SCIM, identity management) is highly desirable.
β’ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across Atlassian ecosystems.
β’ Familiarity with Atlassian licensing, pricing tiers, and deployment models (Cloud Standard vs Premium, Data Center tiers).
Preferred Skills
β’ Atlassian certifications (ACP-120, ACP-610, ACP-620, or equivalent).
β’ Experience supporting large user bases (500+ Jira users) in enterprise environments.
β’ Knowledge of Confluence Cloud administration is a plus.
β’ Strong communication and documentation skills for stakeholder engagement.
