About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Audio Engineer to join a cutting-edge research and development team focused on immersive and high-fidelity audio experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for sound and technology to work in a state-of-the-art lab environment equipped with configurable acoustic spaces, and advanced multimedia systems.
You will play a key role in supporting audio and video data collection efforts, ensuring precision in setup, execution, and data integrity. This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for someone who thrives in lab or studio environments and has experience working with audio equipment, scripting, and data processing.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Set up, test, and calibrate audio and video recording equipment for data collection sessions
β’ Capture high-quality multimedia data in controlled environments
β’ Process collected data using multimedia tools, scripts, and command line utilities
β’ Collaborate with internal and external participants during recording sessions
β’ Maintain detailed documentation and ensure data accuracy and consistency
Essential Skills & Experience
β’ Proven experience in audio equipment setup, gained from roles such as Sound Engineer, Audio Technician, or AV Technician
β’ Proficiency with DAWs (e.g. Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Reaper), microphones, audio interfaces, and recording systems
β’ Basic understanding of Linux and command-line tools
β’ Experience with data processing tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash)
β’ Strong attention to detail and high standards for data quality
β’ Excellent organisational and communication skills
Desirable Skills
β’ Experience working in an acoustics lab or similar research environment
β’ Familiarity with motion capture or visual positioning systems
β’ Comfortable working with large spreadsheets or basic databases (e.g., Excel, MySQL)
β’ Interest in audio perception, spatial sound, or immersive technologies
