AVD Engineer

Citrix Systems Engineer III( Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer) Charlotte, NC or Detroit, MI(Hybrid) Contract role Note: Candidate has to work 1099 or W2. Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of a secure, scalable AVD infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical experience in AVD, automation, and Azure services, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. Key Responsibilities: • Architect, deploy, and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365 environments. • Provide expert guidance on AVD, session hosts, profiles, app groups, and user configurations. • Automate provisioning and scaling using PowerShell or Terraform. • Monitor performance and availability with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, etc. • Ensure compliance with security and governance standards. • Troubleshoot and optimize performance of AVD and end-user computing. • Lead migration from on-prem or legacy VDI platforms to Azure. • Stay updated on Microsoft Azure and AVD best practices and updates. Required Qualifications: • 7+ years of IT infrastructure or end-user computing experience. • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or similar VDI platforms. • Strong knowledge of AVD architecture: host pools, session hosts, MSIX app attach, etc. • Proficiency in automation scripting (PowerShell, Terraform). • Experience with SCCM and Nerdio. • Strong communication skills (verbal & written); able to work independently and as a collaborative team member. • Experience in the banking or financial industry is a plus.
