Role description
AWS AI Cloud Engineer – Public Sector Location: Fully Remote (U.S.) Engagement: Contract Project: Federal Modernization Initiative Position Summary We are seeking an experienced AWS AI Cloud Engineer to support a high-visibility federal modernization program. This role is part of a Public Sector Program Management team focused on delivering secure, scalable, AI-enabled cloud solutions with technical excellence and mission alignment. This position requires deep expertise in AI-driven workloads within AWS, hands-on engineering capability, and architectural oversight. The ideal candidate has proven experience accelerating legacy-to-cloud migrations, implementing compliant AI cloud environments, and advising leadership on AI strategy and cloud transformation initiatives. This is a fully remote role supporting Eastern Standard Time business hours. Key Responsibilities β€’ Architect and refine AI-driven cloud solutions within AWS β€’ Design, deploy, modernize, and optimize AI-enabled cloud environments β€’ Lead legacy-to-cloud migration initiatives including re-architecture, refactoring, and containerization β€’ Deploy AI solutions using AWS services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, Kiro (formerly Amazon Q Developer), Lambda, ECS, and EKS β€’ Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development velocity and solution quality β€’ Implement Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation or Terraform β€’ Engineer CI/CD pipelines for AI model deployment and infrastructure automation β€’ Implement MLOps practices including model versioning, monitoring, retraining workflows, and performance optimization β€’ Conduct cloud cost modeling and performance tuning for AI workloads β€’ Participate in architecture and security reviews β€’ Ensure compliance with federal security frameworks including FedRAMP and NIST β€’ Assess current environments, identify architectural gaps, and implement corrective improvements β€’ Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and program leadership teams β€’ Deliver architecture documentation, technical briefings, and strategic recommendations Required Qualifications β€’ Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline β€’ AWS Professional Certification(s) AND AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty β€’ Minimum 8 years of experience in specialized AI cloud technologies β€’ Minimum 4 years specializing in AWS AI cloud technologies β€’ OR β€’ 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree β€’ Must be a U.S. Citizen β€’ Proven experience architecting AI solutions in secure, compliance-driven environments β€’ Deep expertise in AWS AI services including model development, deployment, and integration β€’ Strong experience in cloud-native architecture, automation, and DevSecOps practices β€’ Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy systems and leading cloud transformation initiatives β€’ Experience designing scalable AI pipelines using managed cloud services β€’ Strong understanding of federal security compliance frameworks and governance β€’ Ability to support EST working hours β€’ Ability to support multiple stakeholders in parallel Nice to Have β€’ Active Clearance or Public Trust preferred β€’ Familiarity with generative AI architectures and large language model deployment β€’ Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in EKS β€’ Strong DevSecOps background within regulated government programs β€’ Experience integrating AI into ERP, data lake, or mission systems β€’ Knowledge of Zero Trust cloud architectures β€’ Experience advising executive leadership on AI adoption strategy and digital transformation initiatives If you’re an AI-focused AWS engineer who thrives in regulated environments and enjoys building secure, mission-aligned cloud solutions at scale, we’d love to connect.
