Job Description
AWS Cloud Engineer – Terraform and Containerization (GovCloud)
Responsibilities:
• Assess current cloud/infrastructure landscape (compute, networking, security, CI/CD, containerization) and define target architecture on AWS GovCloud using AWS EKS-based workloads.
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform for repeatable, auditable deployments across GovCloud environments.
• Select and implement container orchestration patterns using EKS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm charts for repeatable workload deployments, scaling, and upgrades.
• Define and document deployment, scaling, and rollback strategies that meet FedRAMP / GovCloud compliance requirements.
• Implement and validate EKS cluster performance (autoscaling, pod scheduling, RBAC, ingress/egress, resource limits) and optimize workloads for resilience and cost efficiency.
• Configure GovCloud-compliant monitoring, logging, and alerting using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and/or ELK/EFK stacks.
• Develop secure CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications and IaC deployments.
• Produce detailed runbooks, backup/recovery procedures, and operational handoff documentation, ensuring compliance with GovCloud security controls.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer / DevOps Engineer with strong AWS background.
• Hands-on expertise with Terraform (modules, workspaces, remote state) for AWS GovCloud infrastructure.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration on AWS EKS/Kubernetes, including cluster lifecycle management.
• Proficiency with Helm charts for application packaging, templating, and lifecycle management in Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, Load Balancers) with GovCloud operational constraints.
• Familiarity with GovCloud security requirements: IAM patterns, KMS, FIPS encryption, FedRAMP, compliance frameworks.
• Experience implementing monitoring/observability solutions in secure environments.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins) integrated with Kubernetes/EKS.
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation and cluster operations.
