AWS Data Engineer Contract Opportunity with a Major Investment Firm Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid - 3 Days/Week Onsite) Duration: 12+ Months Pay Rate: Up to $65/hour W2 or $70/hour C2C (Based on Experience) Employment Type: W2 or Corp-to-Corp Candidates: Local Candidates Preferred We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join a growing Data Engineering team supporting enterprise-scale cloud initiatives within a leading financial services organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing and building modern cloud-based data platforms, developing scalable data pipelines, and working with large volumes of enterprise data. You'll collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions using the latest AWS technologies. What You'll Do β€’ Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-native data architectures on AWS β€’ Build robust data ingestion pipelines from on-premises and cloud-based data sources β€’ Develop and support ETL/ELT processes to ensure high-quality, secure, and reliable data movement β€’ Design and implement enterprise data lakes and data warehouse solutions β€’ Participate in architecture and system design discussions for large-scale data engineering initiatives β€’ Develop, test, and maintain high-quality, reusable code following engineering best practices β€’ Build serverless applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and related services β€’ Migrate data from relational databases, APIs, and file systems into AWS platforms including S3, RDS, Aurora, and Redshift β€’ Develop streaming data solutions using Amazon Kinesis, SQS, and Kafka (preferred) β€’ Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for enterprise data platforms β€’ Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, Operations, and cross-functional engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle β€’ Research emerging technologies, build proof-of-concepts, and recommend new solutions β€’ Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data platforms for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency Required Qualifications β€’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience) β€’ 5+ years of experience building enterprise data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud-based data platforms on AWS β€’ Strong programming experience with Python, SQL, and Shell scripting β€’ Experience building serverless data applications and orchestrating data pipelines β€’ Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and cloud data architectures β€’ Experience designing and implementing AWS data ingestion pipelines β€’ Knowledge of enterprise data warehousing concepts and best practices β€’ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills β€’ Ability to work effectively within Agile development teams Preferred Qualifications β€’ Experience with API Gateway, ElasticSearch, Amazon SQS, and additional AWS services β€’ Experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation β€’ Experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines β€’ Experience building real-time streaming data solutions using Amazon Kinesis, Kafka, and SQS β€’ AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer Certification β€’ Knowledge of Lakehouse architecture and modern cloud data platforms β€’ Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards If you're passionate about building scalable cloud data platforms and want to work on enterprise-level AWS initiatives within a leading investment firm, we'd love to hear from you.
