Role description
AWS DevOps Engineer – Contract
We're looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join a dynamic team on a short-term contract, starting as soon as possible. You'll be instrumental in supporting and enhancing cloud infrastructure, deploying scalable services, and improving CI/CD pipelines within an AWS environment.
Start: ASAP
Duration: 3 months
Day Rate: c. £500 per day (Outside IR35)
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in Sheffield, remainder remote
Key Skills & Experience Required:
• Proven background as an AWS DevOps Engineer in commercial environments
• Strong expertise in AWS core services including EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, IAM, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, RDS, Route 53, and VPCs
• Solid experience with Kubernetes and containerisation using Docker and Amazon EKS
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or CloudFormation
• CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CodePipeline
• Monitoring and logging with tools like CloudWatch, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or similar
• Good understanding of networking, security groups, load balancers, and general cloud security best practices
Tasks: As a key member of the team, you will:
• Design, build, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Manage Kubernetes clusters and deploy containerised applications
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment workflows
• Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and optimise performance
• Implement and maintain security and compliance controls across AWS environments
• Collaborate with software developers and architects to support continuous delivery and operational excellence
