Role description
Robert Half is supporting a global consulting partner in sourcing an experienced AWS Python Solution Architect to join a major financial services engagement. The role focuses on designing and implementing secure, scalable AWS-native solutions using Python, Terraform, and containerised architecture, enabling new data and AI capabilities while ensuring compliance and resilience across critical workloads.
Assignment Details
• Initial Duration: 6 months (likely extension given scope)
• Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in London or Edinburgh
• Day Rate:£600 PAYE +12.07% holiday pay - PAYE with employer's NI & Tax deducted at source, unlike umbrella companies and no umbrella company admin fees
• Start Date: ASAP
Key Skills & Experience
• Strong banking background
• Deep AWS architecture expertise across VPC, ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, and KMS
• Strong Python development background (boto3, FastAPI, automation tooling, testing frameworks)
• Hands-on Terraform experience at module level, including policy-as-code (OPA / Conftest)
• Proven design and delivery using ECS Fargate or EKS with secure image scanning and runtime security
• Experience building observability frameworks - metrics, logging, tracing, retention, and access control
• Strong understanding of security and compliance requirements in financial services (FCA, DORA, PRA)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CodePipeline)
• Desirable exposure to SageMaker, model lifecycle integration, and MLOps monitoring
Role Overview
You'll be part of a growing platform engineering function building the next generation of secure AWS services. This position suits a technically strong architect who codes, comfortable working across architecture, engineering, and data science teams to deliver compliant, cloud-native patterns that scale. You'll design landing zones, reusable modules, and observability frameworks, all aligned to enterprise controls and best practice.
