Role description
Job Title: Azure Cloud Engineer I Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid – Onsite presence required) Note: No H1B for this position and need local candidates only. Position Overview Client is seeking a qualified Azure Cloud Engineer I to join our client's cloud infrastructure team based in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. This role is hybrid onsite and will only consider local candidates due to require in-person collaboration. The selected engineer will work closely with senior architects and application teams to deploy, configure, and optimize Azure cloud environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing Azure landing zones, implementing networking configurations, and automating infrastructure deployments. Key Responsibilities Assist in the setup and configuration of core Azure subscriptions, resource groups, and environments. Implement and enforce Azure Policies, RBAC permissions, and tagging standards to ensure governance and compliance. Deploy and manage core Azure networking components including VWAN, Azure Firewall, VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, VPN, and ExpressRoute. Configure and maintain Azure Application Gateways and related load balancing solutions. Contribute to infrastructure automation using Bicep, ARM templates, or PowerShell scripting. Troubleshoot cloud and hybrid connectivity issues between Azure and on-premise environments. Support incident response, root cause analysis, and environment stability initiatives. Monitor Azure environments, configure alerting and diagnostics, and optimize resource utilization. Collaborate with development, architecture, and security teams on cloud deployments and infrastructure enhancements. Ensure compliance with cloud governance, security, and cost optimization policies. Required Skills & Experience 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and deploying Azure landing zones in enterprise environments. Strong proficiency in Azure networking - VWAN, ExpressRoute, VPN, Firewall, and VNet, including hybrid connectivity. Demonstrated ability to design and implement "private-by-default" Azure architectures with strong policy enforcement. Experience implementing and managing Azure Policies, RBAC, and resource tagging strategies. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with a collaborative mindset. Preferred Certifications Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator (AZ-104) Azure Network Engineer (AZ-700) Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
