Role description
Candidates MUST work ONSITE in Raleigh, NC
Description
Azure Data Architect / Data Engineer to embed directly with the data team already working the data cleansing effort. This person will be a technical conduit: someone who genuinely understands the data technically, understands the implications of cleansing decisions on the conversion process, and can help keep the work moving in the right direction. They will work alongside existing data resources on the program rather than managing the client relationship directly.
The role begins with a focus on data cleansing and is expected to shift toward data conversion as the program progresses β building the data pipelines and executing the conversion needed to migrate off the legacy environment. Expect meaningful ramp-up time early on;
Indicative Responsibility Mix (will Vary Over The Engagement)
β’ Hands-on technical (pipelines, architecture): ~25% early, increasing through the conversion phase
β’ Ramp-up / domain & application training: ~25% in the early months
β’ Client interface with the data team: ~10β15% (interfacing, not managing the client)
β’ Remainder: data cleansing/conversion analysis, architecture, and process-improvement work
Qualifications
β’ 7+ years of data engineering / data architecture experience
β’ Hands-on Azure data stack: ADF, Databricks, Synapse
β’ Experience on large-scale data conversion / migration or modernization efforts
β’ Strong, consultant-grade client communication skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
β’ Legacy data familiarity β DB2 / mainframe-sourced data a plus (heavy recent Azure experience can offset)
β’ SQL plus Python/Spark for data transformation in Databricks
β’ Data modeling and architecture for analytics/operational platforms
β’ Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and broader Azure data ecosystem
β’ Development background that evolved into data engineering/analysis (strong plus β understands data from the code side)
β’ Automation / AI exposure applied to data work (process improvement mindset)
β’ Business or administration domain background
