Role description
We have a 5-year, remote, Azure Data Engineer contract, in Jackson, MS. The anticipated official start date is March 1, 2026. Our client is seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust Azure-based data pipelines that support K–12 education systems, including MSIS and related reporting platforms. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, and ETL/ELT processes, and a strong commitment to delivering accurate, timely data for federal and state reporting requirements. Minimum Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of experience in the following: • Advanced development and orchestration of data pipelines using Azure Data Factory/Synapse or similar cloud-based platforms. (pipelines, triggers, integration runtimes, parameterization). • Data warehousing and analytics engineering using Azure Synapse Analytics or similar cloud-based platforms (dedicated and serverless SQL pools). • Strong T-SQL skills, including query optimization, indexing strategies, stored procedures, and performance tuning. • Implementation of ETL/ELT frameworks, including incremental loads, CDC patterns, and error handling. • Integration of structured and semi-structured data (CSV, JSON, XML) from APIs, SFTP, and vendor systems. • Source control and deployment practices using Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines. Desirable Qualifications • Experience with student information management systems and K-12 data and reporting. • Experience with Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) • Azure Data Engineer Associate certification Minimum Application Requirements Your application will be disqualified if you do not meet all these minimum application requirements. • Must meet or exceed the Minimum Qualifications. • Must be a current resident of the United States. • Must have current work authorization for the United States. • Must be a direct hire.
