Please find the job description for the position below: Job Title: Azure Database Architect Location: St. Paul, MN 55155 (100% Remote) Duration: 12+ Month Contract (Possible Extension) Job ID: MNSITE-3831 Job Description The Azure Database Architect will participate in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of Azure databases and data lakes, with a primary focus on the Data Lakehouse and its integrated data reserves. This position will be responsible for designing, administering, maintaining, and securing data to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable data storage solutions. The Azure Database Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data workflows, support data-driven decision-making, and implement best practices for data security and integrity within Azure environments. The position will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to other architects and database engineers. Key Responsibilities • Support the design and implementation of solutions to improve, modernize, and transform data-driven service delivery. • Ensure data assets are properly structured, accessible, secure, and aligned with DCYF, MNIT, and enterprise goals. • Recommend data platforms and tools that support enterprise data architecture. • Develop and maintain data models. • Ensure data access patterns are optimized for performance and scalability. • Maintain required technical and architectural documentation. • Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure compliance with security standards. • Support the design and development of disaster recovery solutions. • Provide knowledge transfer, technical guidance, and mentorship to architects and database engineers. Required/Desired Qualifications • Approximately 10 years of experience in data architecture or data management. • Strong experience designing, developing, and implementing data lakes, relational databases, and non-relational databases in Azure. • Strong experience with Azure Databricks. • Strong experience with Oracle databases. • Experience developing and implementing data transformation solutions and cloud infrastructure integrations. • Experience coding and testing programs and scripts to load data using Azure data-loading utilities. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines. • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts. Experience with tools and technologies such as: • Azure Monitor • Azure Data Factory (ADF) • SQL Analytics • Query Performance Insight • Azure Resource Manager (ARM) • Perl • Azure CLI • PowerShell • Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to others in relevant technologies. • Experience developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies using technologies such as Azure Backup and geo-replication. • Experience with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), encryption, and network security. • Strong organizational and time-management skills. • Knowledge of data concepts, data modeling, schema design, and indexing strategies. • Knowledge of Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instances, and Elastic Pools. • Knowledge of Data Warehouse Administration. • Experience with Teradata Data Warehouse environments.
