Role description
Description: HyerTek is seeking a BI & Analytics Engineer to support the delivery of mission and operational analytics solutions for a federal government customer. In this role, you will be part of an Agile delivery team responsible for transforming data from enterprise, operational, and legacy systems into trusted analytics, dashboards, and executive-level reporting. You will work across the full analytics lifecycle — from data ingestion and transformation through modeling and visualization — using tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Azure-based analytics services. You will collaborate closely with developers, data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure analytics solutions align with program objectives and support informed decision-making. This is a high-visibility opportunity to deliver analytics products that directly support mission outcomes. Work Location Requirements Candidates must reside within a commutable distance of the Washington, DC Metro Area This position requires 2–3 days per week onsite, either at the customer location or HyerTek offices Remote work is permitted for the remaining days Requirements: 7–10 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Analytics, preferably supporting federal government programs Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including: Semantic model development DAX measures and calculations Power Query Strong SQL skills and experience with relational data modeling Experience building and maintaining analytics-focused data pipelines Experience integrating and transforming data from: Enterprise and legacy platforms such as Dynamics 365, Oracle, and SAP API-driven and operational systems, including Jira, Confluence, Remedy, SharePoint, Microsoft Planner, or similar tools Excel spreadsheets and flat files, including data cleansing, normalization, and validation Familiarity with Azure-based analytics services, such as: Azure Data Factory or Microsoft Fabric Azure SQL / SQL Server Azure Storage (Blob, Data Lake) Experience implementing data access controls and security within analytics platforms Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field U.S. Citizenship is required, along with the ability to successfully obtain and maintain a minimum of a DoD Position of Trust (T-1) As a BI & Analytics Engineer, you will: Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models Deliver executive-level and operational reporting that supports leadership decision-making Build and support end-to-end analytics pipelines, from data ingestion through reporting Apply analytics and data modeling best practices to ensure accuracy, performance, and consistency Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to understand business processes, objectives, and reporting requirements Translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and analytics deliverables using Agile practices Research, test, deploy, and support analytics solutions in production environments Troubleshoot data quality issues and performance bottlenecks across pipelines and reports Automate manual reporting and spreadsheet-based processes to improve operational efficiency Integrate analytics solutions across multiple systems and data sources Ensure analytics governance, documentation, and metric definitions are clearly maintained Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members Recommend analytics tools, platforms, and integration approaches to improve performance and delivery Create and maintain analytics documentation, including data dictionaries, metric definitions, and reporting guides Equal Opportunity Employment HyerTek employment decisions are based on qualifications, merit, and business need.
