POSITION SUMMARY
Client is a data- and technology-driven healthcare organization partnering with health systems, health plans, and provider groups to deliver preventive, coordinated, and convenient care that improves clinical outcomes for seniors.
BigRio, a trusted data, analytics, and cloud consulting partner, is supporting Client on this engagement. BigRio brings deep expertise in healthcare analytics, cloud modernization, and Microsoft Azureβbased BI platforms.
The BI Engineer / Senior BI Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, optimization, and support of cloud-based Business Intelligence and analytics solutions using the Microsoft BI stack and Azure cloud services. This role collaborates closely with Client business stakeholders, data engineers, and BigRio delivery teams to deliver scalable, high-quality reporting and analytics solutions that support data-driven decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
β’ Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications for reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions.
β’ Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver enterprise BI and reporting solutions.
β’ Design, develop, and implement business intelligence and analytics solutions aligned with organizational initiatives.
β’ Build rich, interactive dashboards using Power BI, leveraging out-of-the-box features, customizations, and advanced visualizations.
β’ Design and publish dashboards for business units, leadership, and enterprise-wide users.
β’ Design, model, develop, and optimize stored procedures to support reporting and data management objectives.
β’ Design and support data flows and ETL processes, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity.
β’ Partner with data engineering teams to ensure analytics datasets are optimized for performance and scalability.
β’ Advise power users on best practices for BI and analytics reporting tools.
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to BI processes, data pipelines, and reporting outputs.
β’ Support standardized and ad-hoc analytics and reporting capabilities.
β’ Contribute to the enhancement, maintenance, and stability of the BI platform.
β’ Provide ongoing operational support, including report enhancements, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
β’ Contribute to BI technical architecture and data warehouse design decisions (senior level).
β’ Create and maintain functional and technical documentation for BI assets.
β’ Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment across BigRio and Client teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (Level-Based)
BI Engineer:
β’ 3+ years of experience in business intelligence and reporting
β’ 3+ years of experience with Microsoft BI tools (MSBI)
β’ 3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
β’ Experience working with healthcare data and terminology
Senior BI Engineer:
β’ 7+ years of experience in business intelligence and reporting
β’ 7+ years of experience with Microsoft BI tools (MSBI)
β’ 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server
β’ 5+ years of experience in the healthcare domain
β’ Proven experience working with HIPAA-compliant systems and data
Technical Skills
β’ Strong hands-on experience with:
β’ Power BI
β’ SSRS / SSAS
β’ Azure Data Factory
β’ Cloud-based BI and analytics services
β’ Experience with Azure Data Platform and/or Big Data technologies is a plus.
β’ Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP is a plus.
Education & Certifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
β’ Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, or Azure certifications preferred.
β’ Microsoft Azure certification is a plus.
