Role description
Insight Global is looking for a Bioinformatician to join one of the largest Pharmaceutical organisations globally for a 6 month contract. The ideal candidate will focus on developing and refining bioinformatics tools and pipelines to support cutting-edge drug discovery efforts. Working closely with laboratory scientists, the successful candidate will be responsible for processing and analyzing RNA-Seq and other next-generation sequencing (NGS) datasets, including bulk and single-cell RNA-Seq using tools such as DESeq2, R, and Seurat. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and maintaining robust data analysis workflows, building interactive data visualization platforms using Plotly Dash or Shiny Apps, and contributing to the creation of protocols and standard operating procedures. The Bioinformatician will also play a key role in quality control reporting and in mentoring junior team members on bioinformatics methodologies. The role also requires excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven stakeholder management experience. This is a remote opportunity, however, the chosen candidate will have to be located ideally in the Boston area or on the US East Coast to facilitate collaboration across teams and occasional travel to their Boston office.
Qualifications:
β’ Experience as a Bioinformatician or Data Scientist or related role.
β’ Masterβs in Computational Biology or a related field, with a focus on bioinformatics, or experience working in bioinformatic enterprise organisations
β’ Proficient in R, Python, and Linux, with experience in command line tools, version control and bioinformatics software.
β’ Strong background in RNA-Seq analysis, statistical modeling, working with pipelines and data visualization.
β’ Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Plusses:
β’ Experience with Docker, Snakemake, and Nextflow for workflow management.
β’ Knowledge of machine learning methods and their application in bioinformatics. - donβt need to build models, apply packages
β’ Familiarity with HPC cloud environments
