Business Analyst 2

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst 2 to join a leading electric utility organization. This role will be responsible for analyzing and improving business systems with a focus on optimizing workflows, processes, and data governance. You will work closely with various internal stakeholders to assess current business processes, reengineer workflows, and support the integration of business systems with a modern data platform. This role is essential to ensuring that systems are aligned with strategic business goals and scalable for future growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in business analysis, business process reengineering, and data governance. You will be expected to help lead efforts to streamline operations, enhance data quality, and support cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic utility environment. Key Responsibilities: • Business Process Optimization & Reengineering: Lead the analysis and evaluation of business systems, identifying opportunities to reengineer or improve processes for operational efficiency. Design workflows and process models that align with business objectives. • Process Mapping: Utilize industry-standard methodologies and tools (such as BPMN, Visio, etc.) to create process maps, models, and frameworks that facilitate clear communication and support effective decision-making across teams. • Data Governance: Assist in defining data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the organization. Contribute to the development of a data governance framework to support the organization’s data strategy. • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across departments to gather and define business requirements, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical implementations. • Business Requirements Documentation: Document business requirements, process flows, system specifications, and other necessary materials in support of system development or improvement projects. • Technology Integration: Work with development teams to ensure seamless onboarding of business data into modern data platforms (such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or similar) to support analytics and business intelligence needs. • Continuous Improvement: Recommend technology solutions or process changes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and value creation, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices. Skills and Qualifications: Required Skills: • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field. (Substitution of experience for up to 4 years of education is acceptable.) • 4-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a focus on IT or technical environments. • Experience collaborating with developers, solutions architects, and data teams to define and implement business solutions. • 4-7 years of hands-on experience in business process design, reengineering, and developing frameworks to standardize and optimize workflows. • Proficiency with business process mapping tools and methodologies (e.g., BPMN, Visio, etc.). • 4-7 years of experience identifying inefficiencies in business processes and implementing technology-driven improvements. • Strong documentation skills to capture business requirements, process flows, and system specifications. • Experience working with cross-functional teams to improve processes that support organizational growth and efficiency. Preferred Skills: • 2+ years of experience working with utility providers (Electric, Water, etc.). • 2+ years of experience analyzing data using platforms like Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to support data-driven decision-making. • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, Databricks) and understanding of how they enable analytics and business intelligence. • Working knowledge of data governance principles (including data quality, stewardship, and compliance best practices). Job Type: Contract with potential extensions. Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
