Work Model: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days onsite per week)

About the Opportunity
The Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) is undertaking major initiatives to modernize its Investment Accounting and data environment. We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst – Investments to play a key role in shaping and supporting the future state of ERS’ investment data and portfolio management capabilities.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Investment leadership, Finance, and IT teams, helping transform complex investment and financial data into trusted, actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization.
If you are a senior Business Analyst with strong investment, financial systems, and data experience, this is a high-visibility role where your work will directly impact enterprise-level investment operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead business, functional, and data requirements gathering through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and documentation reviews
• Document end-to-end investment and portfolio workflows, including process flows, data flows, and system dependencies
• Support modernization of Investment Accounting and investment data platforms
• Participate in vendor evaluations, solution demonstrations, and system selection activities
• Assist with system implementation activities including data mapping, data validation, testing, and UAT coordination
• Enhance and support portfolio management and investment data applications
• Collaborate across Investments, Finance, IT Shared Services, and external vendors
• Support data governance efforts including data quality checks, documentation, and lineage awareness
• Design and validate dashboards, reports, and data visualizations supporting investment and financial reporting
• Support change management efforts including training materials and user documentation
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, and governance standards
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
• 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst / Business Systems Analyst
• 5+ years supporting financial systems and investment-related data
• Strong experience with requirements elicitation and documentation
• Hands-on experience with data analysis, data validation, and SQL queries (joins, aggregations, reconciliations)
• Experience supporting system implementations, integrations, or upgrades
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within investment services, asset management, pension funds, or asset owner environments
• Understanding of investment accounting, portfolio management, and investment workflows
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools
• Familiarity with REST APIs, cloud data platforms, and modern data architectures
• Professional certifications such as CBAP or CFA
