Aubay UK is looking for a Business Analyst to join on a 6-month contract (inside IR35), with a background in financial services to support our client’s ongoing projects by managing change requests from the business, including system enhancements, bug fixes, API changes, etc. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to elicit and document requirements, analyse business processes, and propose effective solutions to enhance operational efficiency. As a Business Analyst, you will serve as a crucial link between the business stakeholders and the technical team, ensuring smooth communication and alignment of objectives.
Aubay is seeking a dynamic and flexible Senior IT Business Analyst to join a critical infrastructure and cyber security programme for a leading financial services client. This role involves supporting IT security upgrades and migration projects, with end-to-end responsibility for requirement gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management, bridging the gap between business and technical teams. The successful candidate will work across both Agile and Waterfall delivery models and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
This role requires the successful candidate to be onsite in Solihull three days a week; this is a non-negotiable requirement.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 4+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in the financial services sector.
• Experience working across both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, including full project lifecycle (SDLC).
• Strong track record in gathering and agreeing functional and non-functional requirements.
• Demonstrable experience in analysing and documenting complex business processes.
• Experience creating structured documentation such as process flows, use cases, data models, and user stories.
• Hands-on experience with system and user acceptance testing, including test planning and execution.
• Familiarity with data analysis techniques and tools.
• Experience producing requirements specifications for IT systems and translating business needs into technical documentation.
• Proven ability to run workshops, interact with end users and stakeholders across all levels.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Jira, Confluence, and Visio.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Business Information Systems).
• ISEB Foundation in Business Analysis or equivalent.
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Project management skills and a solid understanding of project lifecycle phases.
• Understanding of development cycles and SDLC best practices.
• Experience with company data governance and an understanding of enterprise data elements.
• Practitioner-level BA certifications (ISEB Diploma, IIBA CBAP/CCBA).
• PRINCE2 Practitioner or similar project certification.
Role Responsibilities:
• Capture, analyse and document business and technical requirements for infrastructure and security initiatives (e.g. system upgrades, migrations, access management).
• Liaise between IT teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and alignment of goals.
• Produce functional and non-functional specifications, process maps, and user stories.
• Support test teams with test planning, script creation, execution, and defect tracking.
• Run workshops and facilitate effective discussions across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Ensure documentation is consistent, complete, and traceable across project phases.
• Contribute to change control processes and assess business impact of technical changes.
• Support continuous improvement by helping the business adopt parameter-driven configurations where possible.
• Report status updates to project managers and escalate delivery risks as needed.
• Maintain awareness of industry best practices and regulatory expectations around IT delivery and security.
