Overall purpose of role
As part of a team, deliver the end-to-end data migration workstream (into Workday), ensuring data is gathered, transformed, tested and cut over accurately, on time, and in line with business requirements, governance, security and data privacy controls.
Key Accountabilities
• Contribute to the plan, governance and day-to-day management of the Data Migration workstream.
• Deliver end-to-end migration activities on behalf of Barclays, including data gathering, transformation, testing, cutover preparation and assurance of completion.
• Analyse, prepare, transform, test and troubleshoot data migration activity.
• Define and document data transformation/mapping rules with clear understanding of source-to-target mapping.
• Execute data cleansing and transformation tasks to prepare data for loading to Workday.
• Lead and participate in end-to-end testing of migrated data, including validation and assurance of automated testing outputs.
• Identify and resolve data issues relating to data quality, lineage, controls and authoritative source identification.
• Manage internal and external dependencies across workstreams to deliver agreed migration outcomes.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
• Build and maintain strong working relationships across HR, HR Technology and other impacted teams.
• Provide clear status updates, risks/issues and decision points to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
• Lead specific aspects of the workstream through planning, execution and cutover, coordinating inputs from SMEs and delivery partners as required.
• Engage proactively with other workstreams to resolve dependencies and remove blockers.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
• Assess data migration risks and issues and determine appropriate remediation and escalation paths.
• Make day-to-day decisions on workstream priorities to maintain plan adherence and quality outcomes.
• Investigate complex data defects, identify root cause across source/transform/target steps, and agree fixes with HR and Technology teams.
• Balance delivery timelines with control requirements (data privacy, security, governance) and ensure compliance is maintained.
Risk and Control Objective
Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do
Person Specification
• Experienced data migration workstream expert with hands-on delivery experience (some Workday experience is essential).
• Strong analytical capability with attention to detail across mapping, transformation and validation activities.
• Comfortable working across HR and Technology domains and translating business requirements into migration deliverables.
• Proven communicator able to present clearly to senior audiences.
• Delivery-focused, organised and able to manage multiple workstream activities in parallel.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
• Proven experience delivering data migration workstreams end-to-end (plan, governance, execution and assurance).
• Some experience working with Workday data migration activities and tooling (e.g., EIBs).
• Demonstrable experience documenting transformation rules and source-to-target mapping.
• Hands-on experience in data cleansing, transformation and validation/testing.
• Experience managing and executing data cutover activities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across HR and Technology teams.
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working within regulated environments with strong data governance expectations.
• Ability to define and improve migration controls, reconciliations and automation for repeatable, auditable outcomes.
