Contract: 12 month FTC (with potential to extend)
Hybrid role: 3 days in the office, 2 from home
Full time position, Monday to Friday
Keywords: business analysis, data modelling, front to back knowledge, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, flexible working opportunities, inclusive environment, global teams, trade data representation, regulatory requirements
As a Business Analyst you will play a pivotal role in shaping how transactional data is represented and managed across the enterprise. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with stakeholders from various departments to gather requirements for new initiatives as well as enhancements to existing systems. You will analyse complex message flows between platforms handling orders, fills, and trade reports-ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage. By developing robust logical data models tailored to evolving business needs, you will help enable new products while safeguarding operational integrity.
Your ability to define clear messaging standards will be crucial in harmonising processes across asset classes such as Equity Cash or Listed Derivatives. When discrepancies arise in data contracts or system outputs, your investigative skills will come into play as you work alongside system owners to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Throughout these activities, you will leverage your SQL proficiency for detailed data analysis while documenting findings in a manner accessible to both technical specialists and broader business audiences. Success in this role hinges on your capacity for empathetic stakeholder engagement, meticulous attention to detail in model development, and commitment to fostering co-operative relationships across global teams.
What you'll do:
• Engage with stakeholders from various business units such as Front Office, Reporting, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Sales and Trading to understand requirements related to transaction and trade data representation.
• Analyse message flows between systems to ensure accurate capture and processing of orders, fills, and trade reports across different asset classes.
• Develop new logical data models that support the introduction of new business lines or products while maintaining existing models for ongoing operations.
• Define messaging and persistence standards that align with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements across multiple product lines.
• Create strict rules-based data contracts by synthesising input from diverse stakeholders to ensure consistency and compliance within all relevant systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis when violations of data contracts occur and coordinate with system owners and developers to resolve issues efficiently.
• Utilise SQL and relational databases to perform independent data analysis supporting model development and validation activities.
• Document technical specifications clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences to facilitate understanding of models and processes throughout the organisation.
• Influence external teams to adopt established models and standards through effective communication and relationship-building skills.
• Manage project timelines by coordinating tasks across global teams while ensuring deliverables meet quality expectations.
What you bring:
• Demonstrated experience in business analysis roles within financial services or related sectors is essential for success in this position.
• Demonstrated experience with logical data modelling techniques specifically focused on trade representation and storage is highly valued.
• Comprehensive understanding of at least one asset class such as Equity Cash or Listed Derivatives enables effective contribution from day one.
• Proficiency in SQL is necessary for conducting independent data analysis using relational databases during model development activities.
• Exceptional technical writing abilities combined with strong verbal communication skills allow you to document models clearly for diverse audiences.
• Experience influencing cross-functional teams globally ensures smooth adoption of standards throughout the organisation.
• Project management or coordination experience supports efficient delivery of multi-team initiatives within agreed timelines.
• Ability to multitask effectively within a fast-paced environment helps maintain focus on priorities without sacrificing quality outcomes.
• Expertise in gathering specifications or requirements from varied stakeholders underpins successful solution design.
