Role description
Role: Business Analyst
Duration: 6-month contract (possibility of extension or conversation)
Location: Downtown Indianapolis, IN (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly communicative Business Analyst to support enterprise metadata documentation and data governance efforts. The ideal candidate excels at engaging conversations with subject matter experts to extract, document, and translate metadata into clear, organized, and user-friendly formats.
This role requires exceptional documentation skills, strong interpersonal communication, and the ability to collaborate with senior-level stakeholders such as executives, judges, attorneys, directors, and other decision-makers. Experience working within government, legal, or court environments as well as familiarity with e‑filing processes is highly preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Conduct interviews and discussions with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather metadata on current data assets.
• Document metadata in a clear, structured, and easy-to-understand format that aligns with organizational standards.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance metadata repositories for ongoing data governance initiatives.
• Collaborate across multiple departments to ensure comprehensive and accurate metadata collection.
• Translate technical or complex information into user‑friendly documentation for non-technical audiences.
• Ensure all documentation complies with data governance, quality, and accessibility standards.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders (executives, judges, attorneys, etc.) to validate and refine metadata inputs.
• Support documentation related to e‑filing workflows, processes, and data structures where applicable.
Required Skills
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst or in a related analytical/documentation-focused role.
• Strong documentation and writing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, including facilitating productive conversations with non-technical SMEs.
• Familiarity with metadata management, data governance principles, or enterprise data documentation.
• Experience working with senior-level stakeholders (executives, judges, attorneys, leadership teams).
• Proficiency with documentation tools and software (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, Excel, etc.).
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Skills
• Background or experience working within government, legal systems, or courts.
• Knowledge of or experience with e‑filing systems and processes.
• Experience creating documentation for regulated or compliance-driven environments.
