Business Analyst – MUST HAVE National NHS programme, Data & API experience. Location: Hybrid – 1 day per month onsite in Leeds Contract Type: Contract (Inside IR35) Rate: £510 per day Duration: Until March 2026 Overview We’re looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a large-scale NHS digital programme focused on data integration and API-driven transformation. You’ll be working with cross-functional teams including data engineers, developers, and product managers to shape and deliver solutions that improve interoperability, insights, and outcomes across the healthcare ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NHS projects, an understanding of data flows and standards, and experience working on API-led platforms within complex public sector environments. Key Responsibilities • Lead business analysis activities across API and data integration projects. • Gather, refine, and document requirements from clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders. • Translate business needs into clear technical specifications and user stories. • Map existing and future-state data flows, identifying dependencies and opportunities for improvement. • Support end-to-end delivery — from discovery and design through to testing and assurance. • Ensure all outputs align with NHS data governance and interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, etc.). • Act as the bridge between business users, suppliers, and engineering teams. Essential Skills • Proven Business Analysis experience on NHS or wider public sector digital projects. • Strong understanding of data-driven systems, APIs, and integration projects. • Experience producing documentation such as process maps, data models, and user stories. • Ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Familiarity with Agile delivery and digital transformation principles. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Desirable Skills • Experience with FHIR / HL7 or other NHS interoperability standards. • Understanding of cloud environments (AWS / Azure). • Experience working alongside data engineering or analytics teams. • Knowledge of NHS assurance, IG, and programme governance frameworks.
