Job Title: Business Analyst
Job Description
The Business Analyst will elicit, analyze, and document business, user, and product requirements for complex software and platform solutions in a compliance-driven environment. This role partners closely with Product Owners, Engineering, and QA to ensure requirements are technically sound, testable, and fully traceable across systems. The position is ideal for someone who can bridge business and technical perspectives, maintain high-quality documentation, and support government or policy-driven programs.
Responsibilities
β’ Elicit, analyze, and document business, user, and product requirements that capture functional, non-functional, and compliance-related needs.
β’ Partner with Product Owners, Engineering, and QA to ensure requirements are technically sound, testable, and interconnected across systems.
β’ Analyze how requirements impact one another and identify dependencies, constraints, and integration points across complex system components.
β’ Ensure compliance-driven and policy-related requirements are accurately reflected and traceable throughout the system lifecycle.
β’ Support QA by linking requirements to test cases and validation criteria to ensure complete coverage and traceability.
β’ Maintain organized, high-quality documentation across Jira, Confluence, and related collaboration tools.
β’ Facilitate requirement reviews to confirm accuracy, resolve ambiguities, and promote shared understanding across delivery teams.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify scope, refine requirements, and support iterative delivery.
β’ Contribute to continuous improvement of requirements management practices, standards, and templates.
Essential Skills
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
β’ 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst supporting software or platform development.
β’ Proven experience in requirements gathering and documentation for complex systems.
β’ Strong understanding of how business, user, and product requirements interrelate within complex system environments.
β’ Technical fluency sufficient to interpret data flows, system integrations, and functional dependencies.
β’ Experience supporting QA workflows and maintaining requirements-to-test-case traceability.
β’ Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems and identify dependencies and constraints.
β’ Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business audiences.
β’ Ability to work effectively with Product Owners, Engineering, and QA in an agile or iterative delivery environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
β’ Proficiency with Jira and Confluence for requirements management and documentation.
β’ Experience supporting government programs or compliance-driven software delivery.
β’ Knowledge of NIST standards, FedRAMP, or DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
β’ Familiarity with security and risk management concepts related to compliance frameworks.
β’ Experience with workflow mapping, use case development, and system integration analysis.
β’ Understanding of definitions of done (DoD) and quality criteria for requirements.
β’ Eligibility for government clearance as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid work environment with core collaboration hours aligned to U.S. Eastern Time. The position is based in either the Raleigh area or the Washington, DC metro area, with a blend of remote work and on-site collaboration as needed. Occasional travel may be required for on-site planning sessions, reviews, or stakeholder meetings. The team leverages modern collaboration and delivery tools, including Jira and Confluence, to manage requirements, documentation, and workflows in a structured and transparent manner. The work focuses on software and platform development in a compliance-driven context, offering exposure to government-related programs and security frameworks.
