Overview
Client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst Consultant to lead the requirements gathering and solution definition for a new data analytics and dashboarding initiative. This project is part of a grant-funded program and strategically aligns with their recent ERP migration from PeopleSoft to Workday (Finance, Human Resources, and Student systems).
The primary platform selected is Microsoft Fabric, with Power BI serving as the core visualization and dashboarding tool. The consultant will play a critical role in bridging business needs with technical implementation, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives, compliance, and best practices in data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead stakeholder workshops, interviews, and requirement-gathering sessions across Finance, HR, Student, and IT departments.
β’ Document business requirements, functional specifications, and data integration needs for the analytics platform.
β’ Translate institutional goals into data and dashboard requirements leveraging Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
β’ Collaborate with technical teams to validate feasibility, prioritize features, and align solution design with business value.
β’ Develop and maintain requirements traceability, ensuring alignment with project goals and grant compliance.
β’ Provide guidance on best practices for data governance, security, and reporting standards.
β’ Support change management, user adoption, and training documentation for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
β’ 7+ years of professional experience as a Business Analyst or Consultant in data/analytics projects.
β’ Strong expertise in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management.
β’ Proven experience working on Microsoft Fabric (or comparable modern data platforms).
β’ Hands-on understanding of Power BI for dashboarding and reporting.
β’ Experience in ERP environments, preferably with Workday (Finance, HR, Student) or similar systems.
β’ Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with both business and technical stakeholders.
β’ Ability to work independently and deliver results within a structured timeline.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Previous experience in higher education or grant-funded projects.
β’ Knowledge of data integration and ETL processes in a cloud environment (Azure preferred).
β’ Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
β’ Certification(s) in Business Analysis (CBAP, PMI-PBA) or Microsoft Data/Analytics tools.
