Business Analyst – HR Data Archiving
Location: Dallas, TX Preferred, (Open to Remote)
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months to start, with potential extension
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support an HR Data Archiving initiative for a large enterprise organization. This role will focus on gathering requirements, coordinating stakeholders, and supporting the archival of HR data across multiple legacy systems, with emphasis on Core HR, Payroll, and Timekeeping functions.
The ideal candidate will bring strong HR functional knowledge and prior experience supporting data archiving, system decommissioning, or legacy system retirement initiatives. This role will partner closely with HR, IT, Legal, and Compliance teams while working alongside technical teams responsible for data extraction and storage.
This position is primarily functional and does not require hands-on development experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead requirements gathering for HR data archiving across 6–8 legacy HR applications
• Partner with HR, IT, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders to define data retention, access, and archival requirements
• Document functional requirements, business rules, and data scope for archiving activities
• Support solution design for archiving platforms and storage solutions (e.g., Blob storage, databases, OpenText or similar tools)
• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather and validate requirements
• Translate HR business needs into clear functional documentation for technical teams
• Support testing and validation of archived HR data
• Ensure effective communication between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams
• Maintain project documentation and provide regular status updates
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of Business Analyst experience
• Experience supporting data archiving, system decommissioning, or legacy system retirement projects
• Strong functional knowledge of:
• Core HR
• Payroll
• Timekeeping
• Experience working with HR systems and HR data structures
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote, cross-functional environment
Nice to Have
• Experience supporting ERP transformations (e.g., SAP to Oracle or similar)
• Basic knowledge of SQL or ETL querying
• Familiarity with archiving tools such as OpenText
• Experience working in multi-system HR environments
