Role description
Job Title: Business Analyst – Data Governance Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst with strong experience in Data Governance to support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and processes. This role will serve as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring data assets are well-managed, governed, and aligned with business objectives. Key Responsibilities • Collaborate with Data Governance, Data Management, and Business teams to define and implement data governance strategies. • Elicit and document business requirements related to data quality, metadata, lineage, and data stewardship. • Support the development and maintenance of data governance policies, standards, and procedures. • Conduct stakeholder analysis and facilitate workshops to gather data governance and data quality requirements. • Work closely with Data Stewards and Data Owners to define data definitions, standards, and ownership. • Assist in implementing tools for metadata management, data cataloging, and data lineage. • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and process documentation. • Monitor compliance with data governance policies and work with stakeholders to resolve data issues. • Provide reporting and insights into data quality metrics and governance KPIs. • Support data classification and privacy initiatives, including regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.). Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or a related field. • 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 2 years in Data Governance or Data Management roles. • Understanding of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, or EDM Council. • Strong knowledge of data management principles (data quality, metadata, lineage, stewardship). • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, Talend, IBM InfoSphere). • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications. • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Skills • Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX). • Familiarity with data warehousing, data lakes, and BI platforms. • Agile and/or Scrum experience. • Certification in Data Governance, Data Management (e.g., CDMP, Collibra Ranger), or Business Analysis (CBAP, CCBA).
