Overview
We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst (Data & Systems) to support a system modernization and workflow transformation initiative within a government environment.
This role will focus on requirements gathering, gap analysis, process redesign, and testing support for a system migration project involving workflow automation, data restructuring, and reporting enhancements.
The ideal candidate has a strong mix of business analysis, data analysis, and system/process understanding, along with prior experience working on public sector or government projects.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements
• Elicit, document, and validate business and technical requirements
• Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders
• Develop detailed functional specifications, workflows, and process documentation
• Maintain requirements traceability and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Process Analysis & System Transformation
• Analyze current-state systems, workflows, and data structures
• Conduct gap analysis (current vs. future state) and identify improvement opportunities
• Support redesign of forms, workflows, and automation logic
• Translate regulatory and business needs into system requirements
Data & Reporting Support
• Analyze raw data using tools such as Excel and Power BI
• Define data mapping, transformation rules, and reporting requirements
• Ensure alignment between legacy data and new system data structures
Testing & Validation
• Support development of test plans, test cases, and validation processes
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and defect tracking
• Ensure system functionality aligns with documented requirements
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with technical teams and system advisors during development
• Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and issues
• Facilitate collaboration between business and technical stakeholders
Required Qualifications
• 4–7 years of experience as a Business Analyst (Technical or Data-focused)
• 2+ years of experience in data analysis (Excel, Power BI, or similar tools)
• Proven experience with:
• Requirements elicitation and documentation
• Gap analysis and process mapping
• Business process reengineering
• Experience working on government or public sector projects (Required)
• Strong understanding of SDLC and system implementation lifecycle
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with:
• Power BI, Power Automate, Microsoft Forms
• Workflow automation and system migration projects
• Jotform or similar form/workflow platforms
• Familiarity with:
• Requirements traceability matrices
• Test planning and QA processes
• Knowledge of BABOK principles and methodologies
Work Environment
• Remote role within Texas
• Must be available for in-person interview in Austin, TX
• Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required (pre-approved)
