Role description
Our client, a leader in the insurance industry, is seeking a Business Analyst to join their team. As a Business Analyst, you will be part of the strategic initiatives supporting operational excellence and system/process improvements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate analytical thinking, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Business Analyst
Location:Remote, based in California near one of the following locations: Bakersfield, Eureka, Fresno, Glendale, Pleasanton, Redding, Riverside, Rohnert Park, San Diego, Sacramento, Stockton, or Vacaville.
Pay Range: starting from $49.00 per hour
What's the Job?
• Partner with business stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate requirements, use cases, and process flows for workers’ compensation insurance operations.
• Analyze current workflows in claims handling, reserving, audits, and regulatory compliance to identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
• Lead data analysis efforts by extracting, cleansing, and interpreting insurance data to support decision-making and performance tracking.
• Support the design and implementation of system enhancements, including vendor integration, workflow re-engineering, and user acceptance testing.
• Develop business cases and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, ensuring compliance with California workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
What's Needed?
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Actuarial Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on workers’ compensation lines of business.
• Deep understanding of workers’ compensation insurance operations, including claims, reserves, self-insurance, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to work with large datasets, advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with data visualization tools.
• Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly and facilitating stakeholder collaboration.
