Role description
Title: Sr. Business Analyst Location: New York, NY (Hybrid) Duration: Contract Pay range: $60-$65 Position Summary: The Business / Data Analyst (BA) / Product hybrid role is a New York–based position supporting a next-generation client onboarding platform build for the client, covering the full lifecycle across onboarding, regulatory, tax, and contracts. The role requires a strong BA with a product mindset and data exposure, capable of working across front office, compliance, and operations while supporting Agile squads building a centralized platform. The candidate will focus on process mapping (current to future state), stakeholder management, and requirements writing, including BRDs, FRDs, user journeys, and personas. Responsibilities include running workshops and interviews, identifying inefficiencies, translating business needs into technical requirements, and supporting implementation. Strong SQL skills are required, along with experience in Agile environments and the ability to map business requirements to product features. The role demands 5–7+ years of experience in business/data analysis within financial services, with client onboarding or reference data experience as a strong plus. The ideal candidate can operate like a product owner, manage multiple stakeholders, drive consensus, and balance business process thinking with data understanding in a complex, multi-system environment. Key Responsibilities Day to Day: • Run workshops + stakeholder interviews to understand current processes • Map current state → future state workflows • Identify pain points + inefficiencies • Create: • BRDs / FRDs • User journeys + personas • Partner with multiple dev teams across Agile squads • Translate business needs into clear technical requirements • Support implementation + iteration of platform features • Present findings to senior stakeholders What client wants: • Someone who can operate like a product owner, not just a BA • Comfortable in messy, multi-system environments • Strong enough to push back / drive consensus across teams • Has seen onboarding / regulatory workflows before (HUGE plus) • Can balance: • Business process thinking • Data understanding Must have skills: • 5–7+ years as Business Analyst / Data Analyst • Financial Services experience (banking strongly preferred) • Strong stakeholder management (multiple teams, senior exposure) • Experience writing: • -BRDs / FRDs • -User journeys / personas • Hands-on with process mapping (BPMN 2.0, workflow tools) • Experience working in Agile environments • Strong data exposure: • - SQL (must) • - Some Python/Perl (nice but helpful) • Experience mapping business requirements → product features • Ability to run workshops, interviews, and drive consensus Plus: • Client Onboarding domain (big one) • Reference Data experience • Experience with: • Collibra (data governance) • Signavio (process modeling) • Boxi • Prior Product Owner / Product Management experience • Data governance / regulatory exposure • Use case documentation experience Russell Tobin is a leading minority-owned professional and technical recruitment and staffing advisory organization.
