Role description
Our client, a global media company, is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join their team in the Burbank area.
Partner closely with business stakeholders, product managers, analysts, and data engineers to deliver high-quality, performant, and scalable reporting solutions using leading BI tools.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the definition, direction, and evolution of the BI Reporting Platform to meet enterprise-scale analytics needs.
Play a critical role in designing, building, and evolving the large-scale BI platforms that power day-to-day decision-making across business teams.
Transform complex, messy data into intuitive, actionable insights.
Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical designs for dashboards, datasets, and reporting solutions.
Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and data engineers to deliver visual, actionable insights aligned with quality, performance, and governance standards.
Design, develop, maintain, and support dashboards, reports, and underlying datasets as business needs evolve.
Continuously optimize existing dashboards, datasets, and SQL queries to improve performance, usability, and reliability.
Contribute across the full report development lifecycle: design, development, testing, iteration, deployment, and support.
Apply and promote BI best practices, including data integrity, validation, testing, documentation, and performance optimization.
Educate and support business users through training, documentation, and office-hours-style assistance to increase BI tool adoption.
Support internal stakeholders with ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests.
Champion and expand self-service BI capabilities, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvements.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, including data warehousing, analytics, and BI technologies.
Strong expertise building enterprise-scale dashboards and reports in Tableau and/or Looker.
Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex joins, window functions, and performance optimization.
Experience with large-scale data platforms such as Redshift, Snowflake, and/or Databricks.
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and analytics-friendly data structures.
Experience designing and maintaining scalable, performant BI data models.
Proven ability to deliver production-ready reporting in distributed, service-oriented environments.
Excellent communication and customer-service skills with the ability to partner effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, a quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience.
Ability to work hybrid onsite (3 days per week) from the Fandango office in Universal City, Los Angeles.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Experience administering and supporting Tableau and/or Looker environments.
