Role description
Job Title: Healthcare BA
It s a remote role
8 Months of contract
The bar is high on two things. First, you need to know SNF and ALF operations from the inside. Not from a vendor seat or a consulting deck. You should have spent time in a facility, in some capacity, and you should know what daily life looks like for a DON, an administrator, a nurse, a CNA, an MDS coordinator. Second, you need to be fluent in Jira and Confluence. You will live in both of them every day.
• SNF and ALF experience. Direct, hands on operational experience inside a skilled nursing or assisted living facility. You know what MDS is, you understand the census, you know how a care plan moves, and you can hold your own in a conversation with a DON or an administrator without losing credibility in the first five minutes. This is the single most important qualification for the role.
• Healthcare product experience. You have worked on a healthcare software product, ideally an EMR, EHR, or a system that integrates with one. You understand that healthcare product work is different from other B2B software because of the regulatory weight, the workflow rigidity, and the consequences of getting things wrong.
• Requirements craft. Demonstrated ability to translate stakeholder conversations into product requirements that engineers can build from. You can write a user story with acceptance criteria that does not need forty clarifying questions to be implementable.
• Atlassian fluency. Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence is not negotiable. You should know how to structure epics and stories, manage a backlog, build linked Confluence pages, and use both tools well enough that the team trusts what you put in them.
• Native English communication. Native English language proficiency. The role requires constant verbal and written communication with clinicians, administrators, engineers, and product managers, often switching between those audiences in the same hour. There is no room for translation friction in this seat.
• AI tool fluency. Comfort using AI tools as part of your daily workflow, Anthropic Claude in particular. We use AI throughout requirements work and you should be working with it, not around it.
• Education. A four year college degree from an accredited institution.
• Authorization. Authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred
• Clinical or operational background. Prior career as a nurse, DON, administrator, MDS coordinator, or operational lead inside a SNF or ALF.
• Formal business analyst experience. Time spent in a dedicated BA role at a healthcare software or B2B SaaS company.
• CMS and reimbursement literacy. Familiarity with CMS reporting requirements, MDS submission, PDPM, and the post acute reimbursement landscape.
• Regulated environment exposure. Experience working on products in environments where HIPAA, audit posture, and compliance documentation are part of the daily reality.
