Job Summary:
The Business Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems and user needs to support organizational strategy and technology initiatives. This role formulates system solutions that align with business goals, identifies opportunities for process improvement, and recommends technology-driven enhancements to optimize performance and efficiency. The Business Analyst works closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership to gather requirements, model processes, evaluate solution options, and support system development activities. A successful candidate will bring deep experience in business process reengineering, business process mapping, data analysis, system documentation, and financial impact analysis.
This position requires a highly experienced professionalβone who relies on extensive operational and analytical judgment to plan and execute complex tasks independently. Creativity, autonomy, and strategic thinking are essential, as the Business Analyst must evaluate multiple solution paths, analyze risks, and present recommendations backed by sound logic, cost-benefit analyses, ROI projections, and build-vs-buy assessments.
In addition to strong analytical skills, the Business Analyst must excel at facilitating communication between business users and IT teams, including architects, developers, QA teams, and operational support. Candidates with project management experience, PMP certification, or strong data analysis skills are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
β’ Review, analyze, and evaluate business processes, systems, workflows, and user needs for technology solutions.
β’ Lead requirements-gathering sessions with business units, stakeholders, customers, and IT teams.
β’ Translate business needs into functional requirements, use cases, user stories, and detailed system documentation.
β’ Serve as a liaison between the business community and technical teams (Architecture, Project Delivery, Application Sustainment, etc.).
Process Mapping & Reengineering
β’ Develop business process models using industry-standard methodologies.
β’ Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
β’ Recommend and design reengineered business processes that maximize efficiency and support business strategy.
β’ Evaluate new applications of technology to solve business challenges.
Solution Design & Evaluation
β’ Prepare solution options, feasibility assessments, and impact analyses.
β’ Perform cost/benefit studies, ROI analysis, build-vs-buy evaluations, and risk assessments.
β’ Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify applications.
β’ Collaborate with development teams to validate functionality, clarify requirements, and ensure alignment with user expectations.
Testing & Quality Support
β’ Participate in software design and development reviews.
β’ Support testing activities including unit testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
β’ Validate that final solutions meet business requirements and user needs.
Data Analysis & Reporting
β’ Analyze raw datasets to identify trends, gaps, and actionable insights supporting business decisions.
β’ Translate data findings into documentation that informs system requirements or process improvements.
β’ Partner with data and reporting teams to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
β’ Facilitate meetings, walkthroughs, and workshops with business users and IT teams.
β’ Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
β’ Prepare professional documentation, presentations, reports, and process diagrams.
