Role description
Duration: 12 months Note: Candidates must be local to Charlotte and will be primarily based at The PlClienta, hybrid (3 days a week). The ideal candidate will have 4โ€“9 years of work experience and possess knowledge of interconnection processes, including net metering and/or cluster studies. Familiarity with working in a regulated setting would be beneficial to this role. Experience with system configuration, data and reporting (inclusive of Personally Identifiable Information), and data management is also preferred. โ€ข Job Description: This individual will be on the interconnection initiative. Must have experience with requirement gathering, stakeholder communication, and the functional experience of business analyst. They do not necessarily need to have experience interconnection, power clerk, or Salesforce IMS. This team sits on the business side but interfaces with IT for initiatives/projects for execution and migrations. โ€ข The Business Analyst supports the definition, delivery, and lifecycle management of digital data and systems products within the Renewables Integration Team, with a primary focus on enabling the cluster study process in the Interconnection Management System (IMS). โ€ข The IMS is the enterprise platform for managing interconnection requests for both utility-scale and distributed generation (e.g., rooftop solar) across six regulated jurisdictions. It supports workflows from application intake through engineering studies to commercial operation and includes functionality for electronic payments and contract execution. โ€ข The team is currently executing a major project to replace the existing Salesforce-based IMS with PowerClerkยฎ, a third-party platform that uses a configuration-over-code approach. This model simplifies development and accelerates delivery timelines, enabling the team to deploy robust, effective solutions more efficiently. โ€ข This position provides analytical support through the remainder of a vendor-contracted implementation project, which is currently targeted to end in 2026. โ€ข The Business Analyst will work with a cross-functional agile team, including vendor partners, internal IT, and business SMEs. Responsibilities include supporting data migration execution (including data mapping, business verification of mapping, import verification, and development of job aids for business training), performing data analytics and articulating data cleanup needs, and providing demos or training. The analyst may also extract reporting requirements from business stakeholders and either convey those requirements or build reports. โ€ข Additionally, the analyst will learn in detail how PowerClerk is configured to guide the business toward workable bug fix and enhancement solutions. This role integrates people, processes, systems, and data to deliver a cohesive product experience. It requires strong critical thinking to evaluate trade-offs and anticipate downstream impacts, as well as creative problem solving to address constraints and adapt to change. โ€ข Responsibilities: Analyze, validate, and test data for migration efforts. โ€ข Data mapping, verification, and training/process/technical documentation. โ€ข Bridge business needs with technical teams for solution delivery. โ€ข Understand interconnection processes and regulations. โ€ข Configure Power Clerk for fixes and enhancements. โ€ข Gather user insights to guide improvements. โ€ข Participate in Agile ceremonies. โ€ข Write functional specs, user stories, and documentation. โ€ข Define reporting needs and build or relay report requirements. โ€ข Prioritize and resolve production issues with stakeholders.
