Role description
Job Title: Tech Advisor – IT Business Relationship Management (BRM)
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Reports To: Supervisor, TIS BRM Business Applications
Department:
BRM (business relationship management) has direct interface with the business and business users and all the way up to director level on business side
team is more on technical side - help with business users to do some Power BI reports and looking at opportunities to automate business processes, how to use co-pilot, power apps, and low code options
size of team: small team, 2 at this time and adding another member. will work with 3 other business engagement specialists
examples of tickets this person will be triaging - some users calling them and not being able to install a package and they would have to run down to see if it is a cyber security blockage or a network team that needs to push through the package or another group having a hang up (need to have multiple conversations with multiple groups to determine who owns that ticket)
Responsibility:
• has to have good enough technical background and technical aptitude to work with other IT groups (infrastructure, IT ticketing help desk, enterprise architecture, and cyber security) - this person will function as the liaison amongst these groups
• this person needs to have technical background because in some cases the team has to lead some of the ticket resolution
• some tickets will be escalation issues and could be because the group doesn't' know which groups owns that, and Hermans team comes in with more experience and has lateral exposure to different groups which will be the one who owns the ticket and gets it finalized with the right group
• other responsibilities include disaster recovery options for major applications, facilitate discussions between business and different IT groups and lead meetings, do requirements gathering and have a good discussion with business on value
• understand a lot of initiatives being suggested by the business and be anchored by business values
• hands on experience of technologies and also have business aptitude to have good conversation with business users
• if Power BI reports running slow and they will need to contact the data analytics team, etc.
• implementing features of power platform - more bringing it up from scratch. Will not be supporting power apps/power automate routines. But needs experience with the platform and power bi to create a prototype - answering questions from users or take the questions and do research him/herself or take it back to the group and get some answers
• work with a wide range of groups in different areas/different technologies
• hands on - 15% building apps/dashboards
• heavy advisory role - doing some prototyping, researching, answering questions
• be able to guide users
• support business engagement specialists - front line to the business
• working with ServiceNow ticketing system
Knowledge & Skills:
• 4-7 years of experience
• Copilot, Power BI, Power Automate experience
• building apps/dashboards
• excellent communication
