Role description
Job Title: Business Analyst (BASE24)
Location: Northampton (2 -3 days onsite)
Duration: 31/12/2026
Pay-rate: £402 per day (PAYE through Umbrella)
Role Overview:
• We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Analyst to support the development and enhancement of the Cyber Response Plan for the Process Data Quickly (PDQ) service within the Core Acquiring domain.
• This role will be instrumental in bridging business, cyber security, and technology teams, with a focus on understanding current-state systems, identifying gaps against Group Cyber Security requirements, and defining actionable remediation plans.
• The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in payment acquiring processes, along with working knowledge of HPE NonStop infrastructure and BASE24 applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Gathering & Cyber Gap Analysis
• Collaborate with business, cybersecurity, and technology stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
• Conduct detailed gap analysis between current PDQ service capabilities and Group Cyber Security standards.
• Analyze existing processes, controls, and workflows to identify compliance gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Domain & Technical Analysis
Develop a strong understanding of:
• Payment acquiring lifecycle;
• Credit card authorisation, clearing, and settlement processes;
• BASE24 application workflows;
• HPE NonStop system architecture
• Map end-to-end transaction flows, identifying dependencies and control points relevant to cyber response.
Solution Design & Remediation Planning
• Work with architects, engineers, and cyber teams to translate requirements into clear solution specifications.
• Support the definition of remediation strategies, including: Required system and process changes; Impact analysis; Effort estimation and cost inputs
• Ensure all proposed solutions meet security, compliance, and operational resilience requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
• Act as a liaison between business units, cyber security teams, engineering, and external vendors.
Facilitate:
• Workshops;
• Requirement walkthroughs;
• Gap analysis sessions;
• Stakeholder sign-offs
• Ensure alignment across all stakeholders on priorities and outcomes.
• Testing, Validation & Compliance
• Define acceptance criteria aligned to cyber and regulatory requirements.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validation of remediation changes.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet audit, compliance, and security standards.
Documentation & Reporting
• Produce and maintain high-quality documentation, including: Business requirements documents (BRDs); Process flows and data mappings; Gap analysis reports; Remediation roadmaps
• Track and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.
• Maintain artifacts and knowledge base in JIRA and Confluence.
Required Skills & Experience:
Domain Expertise
• Strong understanding of payment acquiring processes.
Deep knowledge of:
• Credit card authorization; Clearing and settlement lifecycle
• Experience with BASE24 or similar payment switching platforms.
Technical & Platform Knowledge
• Familiarity with HPE NonStop systems and mission-critical payment environments.
• Understanding of cyber security principles, controls, and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, enterprise cyber standards).
• Knowledge of transaction messaging standards (e.g., ISO 8583) and integration patterns.
Business Analysis & Delivery
• Proven experience in requirements gathering, gap analysis, and process modelling.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business requirements and documentation.
• Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.
Tools & Collaboration
• Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence for requirements tracking and documentation.
• Experience with process modelling tools (e.g., Visio, BPMN tools).
