Role description
We are recruiting a Business Analyst for a long-term platform initiative with a leading retirement and savings services company. This role joins an established cross-functional Agile team building a single-source data entry platform that integrates a core internal system with external banking platforms — spanning IRA and HSA administration. The goal is eliminating duplicate data entry by creating a unified integration layer connecting internal platforms, a core banking system, and two active outside vendors. The team already has a BA in place — this is an additive hire driven by the significant volume of business acceptance and beta testing ahead. With 20+ core rollouts planned through Q1 2027, the testing workload is substantial enough to warrant dedicated BA support across the full rollout cycle. Beyond testing, this is a full BA role — writing stories, gathering requirements, supporting backlog refinement, and partnering closely with the Product Owner day to day. Important note on the testing component: This role carries a heavier testing lift than a typical BA position. The team has a dedicated QA function — this is the layer after QA. You’ll be validating whether delivered solutions actually meet business expectations, triaging bugs and issues, determining what gets fixed vs. escalated to the scrum team, and managing that feedback loop across each core rollout. The right candidate sees this as owning quality and outcomes, not just writing requirements and handing them off. What The Role Requires • A driver — proactive, hands-on, and willing to take ownership without being told what to do • Someone who can work independently alongside a PO and not wait to be directed • Strong requirements skills — able to translate complex, sometimes messy business needs into clean, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria • Comfortable working across business stakeholders, technology teams, UX, and external vendors • Organized and structured enough to manage a high volume of testing cycles, feedback, and backlog work simultaneously • Sharp communication skills — able to clearly convey what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to escalate Key Responsibilities • Lead business acceptance and beta testing across 20+ phased core rollouts • Review test outcomes and feedback — assess what is functioning as designed vs. what requires action • Triage defects and issues: determine what to fix, what to escalate to the scrum team, and what to accept • Communicate testing status and findings clearly to the Product Owner and scrum team • Elicit, analyze, and document business and customer needs through stakeholder interviews and research • Translate complex requirements into clear user stories with actionable acceptance criteria • Partner with the Product Owner on backlog prioritization and story readiness • Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies: standups, refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives • Support dependency identification and help manage risks related to requirements and delivery plans • Assist with release preparation, post-release validation, and rollout support Required Experience & Skills • 5–10 years of Business Analyst experience in an Agile/Scrum environment • Experience with business acceptance testing, UAT, or beta testing — this is central to the role • Financial services, retirement, banking, or payroll domain experience strongly preferred • Strong requirements elicitation skills — comfortable working with both technical and business stakeholders • Experience writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria • Proficiency with Azure DevOps or similar Agile tools • SQL or data analysis skills are a plus • Proactive, organized, driver mentality — not a passive order-taker • Able to work independently and manage competing priorities without close supervision • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder required Engagement Details • Type: Contract (6–12 months, project runs through Q1 2027) • Location: Remote (East Coast hours preferred) • Start: ASAP • Eligibility: U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder only #Remote
