Seeking a Business Analyst β Payments Data to play a critical role in managing and optimizing data systems related to Processor Settlement and financial data. This position will serve as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring data integrity, streamlining processes, and enabling data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience working with payments data, SQL-based analytics, business process improvements, and extensive documentation responsibilities.
Skills & Experience
β’ 5+ years of experience in business systems analysis, including:
β’ Requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management
β’ Business process modeling and workflow design
β’ User acceptance testing, systems integration, and quality assurance
β’ Managing complex data-driven projects with a focus on analytics and reporting
β’ 5+ years of experience working on data-centric projects, such as:
β’ Cloud migrations (AWS, Azure, GCP) and ETL processes
β’ API integrations, business intelligence systems, and real-time data pipelines
β’ Data warehousing, data lakes, and operational data stores
β’ Leading initiatives related to data quality, cleansing, and governance
β’ Proven expertise in SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) with a deep understanding of complex queries, data analysis, and performance optimization.
β’ Strong documentation management skills, including process documentation, system documentation, user manuals, and business requirements documentation.
β’ Hands-on experience in data validation, business process modeling, and system analysis.
β’ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical specifications and drive project success.
β’ Preferred experience with ETL tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica) and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks).
β’ Knowledge of payment processing workflows, including ACH, settlements, chargebacks, fraud detection (a plus).
β’ Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) for data visualization and reporting.

β’ Be the expert in payment data systems, ensuring in-depth understanding of data flows, sources, destinations, and system dependencies.
β’ Drive innovation in data systems, proactively identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
β’ Act as a key liaison between business and technical teams (including DevOps, Risk, IT, Marketing), translating business requirements into technical solutions.
β’ Guide projects through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) to ensure timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
Requirements & Pipeline Design
β’ Define evolving business needs within a fast-paced payments environment.
β’ Create detailed specifications and design robust data pipelines to support real-time analytics, reporting, and operational requirements.
Cloud & API Integration
β’ Lead cloud-based data migration initiatives (AWS, Azure, GCP) and develop secure, scalable APIs for system-to-system communication.
β’ Ensure data flows between systems are efficient, reliable, and fully auditable.
System Documentation & Governance
β’ Own the documentation of operational procedures, user guides, and technical references for payment data systems.
β’ Implement governance best practices to maintain system integrity and ensure consistent, high-quality documentation for all stakeholders.
Issue Management & Continuous Improvement
β’ Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, proactively resolving issues in a timely manner.
β’ Implement continuous improvement strategies to increase performance, reliability, and scalability of data systems.
Stakeholder Management
β’ Engage regularly with key departments (IT, Security, Data Governance, Risk, etc.) to discuss system performance, upcoming developments, and project alignment with company objectives.
β’ Provide first-tier support for internal teams by handling queries related to payments data and troubleshooting discrepancies.
Data Security & Compliance
β’ Ensure all data systems comply with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR), with a focus on protecting sensitive financial information.
β’ Establish and uphold protocols for data encryption, access controls, and secure handling of financial data.
Data Management & Analysis
β’ Gain proficiency in Processor Settlement platform hierarchies and data structures.
β’ Document and track all Processor Settlement files, ensuring accurate data movement across internal and external systems.
β’ Identify data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and work with cross-functional teams to remediate them.
β’ Use SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze raw data sources for financial accuracy.
Process Optimization & Compliance
β’ Establish file request approval processes to avoid redundancy, manage costs, and educate teams on appropriate data file usage.
β’ Ensure data security protocols (including encryption and access controls) for sensitive financial data, maintaining regulatory compliance.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
β’ Own and maintain comprehensive documentation for all data processes, system integrations, and business workflows.
β’ Manage Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user stories, and a knowledge base (KB) for self-service issue resolution.
β’ Train and onboard new users on data systems, reporting tools, and best practices to foster a knowledge-sharing environment.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Business Support
β’ Serve as the main point of contact between client, business and technical teams, ensuring smooth communication of requirements between Internal and External stakeholders
β’ Provide business support for payment data queries, discrepancies, and project-related inquiries.
Compensation:
The estimated pay range for this position is USD $50.00/hr - $52.00/hr and is an Exempt role.
