Business Analyst

Job Title: Business Analyst – Utility Operations (DERMS/ADMS) Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst with 3–5 years of experience in utility operations, particularly with DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems) and/or ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management Systems). This role is ideal for a functional resource who can bridge business needs with technical delivery, supporting the integration of distributed energy resources and advancing utility grid modernization initiatives. You will play a key role in eliciting requirements, developing user stories, and supporting SDLC practices while collaborating with consultants and client stakeholders. Key Responsibilities • Lead workshops, stakeholder interviews, and working sessions to gather and clarify requirements for DERMS/ADMS and related grid operational systems. • Develop and document requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria in alignment with utility business needs. • Support and maintain the requirements development repository and ensure adherence to SDLC best practices. • Map current-state processes and use cases, identify gaps, and recommend future-state improvements. • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, solution architects, and technical teams to translate business requirements into actionable solutions. • Ensure requirements traceability throughout project phases and support quality assurance efforts. • Partner with consultants, project managers, and technical staff on Phase 0 DERMS projects and beyond. Required Qualifications • 3–5 years of experience in utility operations, with specific focus on DERMS, ADMS, or related grid operational systems. • Demonstrated expertise in requirements gathering, elicitation, and documentation. • Proven ability to develop user stories and acceptance criteria for technical delivery teams. • Strong knowledge of utility operations, grid management technologies, and data/integration practices. • Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO). • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and process mapping skills. • Ability to support structured SDLC practices and maintain requirements traceability. Nice-to-Have Qualifications • Direct DERMS project experience. • Experience with operational technology (OT) or related utility systems. • Balance of business and technical acumen with the ability to bridge both perspectives.
