Role description
Job Title: Business Analyst – Utility Operations (DERMS/ADMS) Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst with 3–5 years of experience in utility operations, particularly with DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems) and/or ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management Systems). This role is ideal for a functional resource who can bridge business needs with technical delivery, supporting the integration of distributed energy resources and advancing utility grid modernization initiatives. You will play a key role in eliciting requirements, developing user stories, and supporting SDLC practices while collaborating with consultants and client stakeholders. Key Responsibilities β€’ Lead workshops, stakeholder interviews, and working sessions to gather and clarify requirements for DERMS/ADMS and related grid operational systems. β€’ Develop and document requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria in alignment with utility business needs. β€’ Support and maintain the requirements development repository and ensure adherence to SDLC best practices. β€’ Map current-state processes and use cases, identify gaps, and recommend future-state improvements. β€’ Collaborate closely with stakeholders, solution architects, and technical teams to translate business requirements into actionable solutions. β€’ Ensure requirements traceability throughout project phases and support quality assurance efforts. β€’ Partner with consultants, project managers, and technical staff on Phase 0 DERMS projects and beyond. Required Qualifications β€’ 3–5 years of experience in utility operations, with specific focus on DERMS, ADMS, or related grid operational systems. β€’ Demonstrated expertise in requirements gathering, elicitation, and documentation. β€’ Proven ability to develop user stories and acceptance criteria for technical delivery teams. β€’ Strong knowledge of utility operations, grid management technologies, and data/integration practices. β€’ Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO). β€’ Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and process mapping skills. β€’ Ability to support structured SDLC practices and maintain requirements traceability. Nice-to-Have Qualifications β€’ Direct DERMS project experience. β€’ Experience with operational technology (OT) or related utility systems. β€’ Balance of business and technical acumen with the ability to bridge both perspectives.
