Role description
Application Deadline: 3 June 2026 Department: IT Location: London, UK Description The Premier League IT department is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join the IT Project Delivery team. You will act as a strategic Business Analyst with a strong focus on assessing business functions, identifying inefficiencies and recommending opportunities for AI-driven automation and optimisation across the organisation. This is a unique opportunity to shape how AI and automation are adopted and elevated across the Premier League, working across diverse business functions with real organisational impact. While it retains core Business Analyst responsibilities such as requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement and supporting delivery, the focus shifts toward analysing current processes, defining future state workflows and recommending technology solutions that improve efficiency and scalability. We have a wide variety of responsibilities. These include organising the competition and its Handbook as well as managing the centralised broadcast and commercial rights. The work we do in conjunction with the Clubs also goes far beyond the 90 minutes. We support and provide a framework for youth development, we protect the organisation’s intellectual property, support the wider game and community programmes, undertake international development work and liaise with governing bodies and other leagues. All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements. Key Responsibilities β€’ Assess departmental processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks and opportunities for automation using AI and digital solutions. β€’ Lead discovery engagements with stakeholders (workshops and 1-2-1 sessions) to understand current-state operations and define future state, AI enabled processes. β€’ Define project scope, objectives and value cases with a clear focus on automation benefits, ROI and operational impact. β€’ Document complex business processes (current and future state), including opportunities for AI augmentation or full automation. β€’ Translate business needs into structured requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria, with clear alignment to automation outcomes. β€’ Evaluate and recommend AI tools, platforms and software solutions suitable for different business functions. β€’ Build and maintain a prioritised backlog or roadmap of automation and AI opportunities aligned to business value and strategic goals. β€’ Communicate AI enabled solution designs and transformation opportunities to senior internal and external stakeholders in a clear, accessible way. β€’ Develop business cases and Statements of Work, incorporating automation strategies, expected efficiencies and implementation approaches. β€’ Collaborate closely with our development team to ensure solutions are aligned with requirements and maximise automation potential. β€’ Support implementation, testing (QA/UAT) and adoption of AI driven solutions, ensuring they deliver against expected outcomes. β€’ Assist with the delivery of training and guidance to business teams to enable adoption of new tools, processes, and AI capabilities. β€’ Build strong relationships across departments to act as a trusted advisor on process improvement and automation strategy. β€’ Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging AI technologies to identify new opportunities for the business. Role Requirement β€’ Proven experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong focus on process analysis, optimisation and transformation initiatives. β€’ Experience working on technology-driven projects, ideally with exposure to automation and data-led solutions. β€’ Demonstrable experience working closely with AI agents to optimise business processes. β€’ Strong ability to analyse and map complex business processes and identify improvement opportunities. β€’ Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and challenge across all levels of the organisation. β€’ Ability to translate complex technical or AI concepts into clear business language. β€’ Experience defining requirements and producing structured documentation (user stories, process flows, etc.). β€’ Strong understanding of Agile / Scrum methodologies and working within delivery teams. β€’ Experience evaluating and onboarding software products or platforms. β€’ Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Figma, Monday.com (or similar). β€’ Demonstrable knowledge of the full project lifecycle, from discovery through to delivery and adoption. β€’ Experience working with AI, automation, or intelligent workflow tools (e.g., RPA, machine learning, generative AI solutions). β€’ Proven experience designing and embedding bespoke AI agents within new and existing system. β€’ Agile Practitioner certification is desired but not required. β€’ Business Analysis certification is desired but not required.
