Research Business Analyst – London (hybrid) – 12 weeks contract – Laboratory information systems - £625 p/d (Inside IR35)
A leading scientific organisation is seeking a Research Business Analyst to support the integration of laboratory informatics systems and data pipelines within a cutting-edge research environment. This role will bridge the gap between scientific research and technology by enabling seamless data flow from lab instruments to research outputs. The successful candidate will also support workflow optimisation and play a key role in shaping the “lab of the future” within a newly developed facility.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major digital transformation within a lab setting. The Research Business Analyst will work closely with scientists, IT specialists, and other stakeholders to support systems such as LIMS and ELN, ensure data integrity, and drive process improvement. The role requires both strong technical capability and excellent communication skills to support user adoption and engagement.
Key Requirements:
• Strong expertise in lab informatics systems (e.g., LIMS, ELN)
• Understanding of scientific data pipelines (e.g., bioinformatics, cheminformatics)
• Proven business analysis skills (requirements gathering, process mapping)
• Experience with workflow optimisation and user support
• Technical proficiency in SQL, scripting, and tools such as KNIME, Python, Spotfire
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills
• Awareness of data governance, quality standards, and compliance
Key Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry) or IT with a scientific focus
• Advanced or cross-disciplinary qualifications (e.g., Bioinformatics) are advantageous
• Experience in a laboratory, biotech, or pharmaceutical environment highly desirable
• Certifications in business analysis (e.g., CBAP) or project management (e.g., PRINCE2, AgilePM)
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning in lab technologies or data science
Duration: 12-weeks
Location: London (2/3x a week onsite)
